Damn, I can't believe the outrage in this thread over Cory. He came in heavy due to a scale discrepancy, literally walked around the FedEx Forum for a bit, came back and made weight.
The biggest disgrace of yesterday was Miranda. After all the **** he talked (limited to this fight, anyway), he needed three tries to make weight. The report that he was slightly over and should easily make weight was DiBella's sales pitch to calm the crowd.
The truth was, Mierda was rumored to be 7 lb. over the limit as recent as Thursday. Dude was starved, dehydrated and dry-mouthed by the time he weighed in, and was still 0.6 over. Came back later, got down to 160.2, before finally managing to shrivel down to 160 on the dot.
For what it;s worth, Spinks had the decency to step on the public scale and greet the crowd, thus justifying everyone showing up and waiting around for the event. Miranda never came out because he didn't want to step on a scale in public that said he was over the limit (in Tennessee, they weigh in, in front of the commission first, then the public display).
if nothing else, the series of events finally shut up Mierda and Margoulis, even if only for a few hours. Hopefully Pavlik finishes the job tonight.
