Depends how he died.
Corrales gets little respect from some quarters for riding like a maniac when he has a family to feedComment

Chico's the type of fighter and person with whom fans instantly feel connected. He fought that way, and lived that way. He had his issues (especially considering how he went out), but for the most part was one of the most approachable fighters in the game, plus he always gave everything he had in the ring every time he fought.
That's why so many felt the way they did when he died. Even without ever meeting him, so many felt like he was their best friend and/or that they knew him for years.
Most other fighters - hell, athletes - don't offer a similar aura. Least of all, Floyd.
The news would undoubtedly be shocking if (God forbid) Floyd were to die in the next few years. But no, I don't see the same mass emotional attachment being offered.
I'm sure the thread had its own ulterior motives (esp. considering the ridiculous poll choices), but I always feel that every thread deserves at least one good response. So there you go.Comment
