Please support your argument. Assuming both are in their prime.

This is an easy one. Sugar Ray wins easy. He's just as fast if not faster , punches harder and with blazing combinations something Mayweather doesn't do very often. Sugar Ray can punch or box and more importantly in his prime threw powerful combinations. As a lightweight or welterweight in the 70's and early 80's Mayweather would only make the top 10 and would have had little chance of winning a title with the caliber of fighters back then. I just can't imagine Maywether surviving against fighters like Wilfredo Benitiez, Roberto Duran, Tommy Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard. Since Jr middleweight is relatively new division I'll give that to Mayweather to be fair because he wouldn't win going down in weight and if he went up in weight he'd have to contend with fighters like John the Beast Mugabi, Marvin Hagler. One punch and run fighters like Mayweather who are sucessful today is more of a reflection of the caliber of fighters presently fighting, it's not only the heavyweights where talent is lacking, they're just leading the way.

Floyd has better defensive skills and balance, Leonard is faster and hits harder while being no slouch in the skills department either. Leonard wins.
