It isn't racism but it is xenophobia. It has nothing to do with fighters being overrated (after all Hatton gets an astonishing amount of criticism, while Edison Miranda for example does not), it is simply the unpleasant feeling that the country you love (in this case the United States) is started to lose its grip on a sport it has dominated for over a hundred years.
These topics started by "$in" are pretty boring, and they are all getting at the same thing. I'm not keen on Floyd Mayweather Jr but I haven't once started a topic about him because I'm not all that interested in trying to wind people up about it. I don't know why it is so important to "$in" to bring up Hatton once a day but the guys I don't like don't actually mean that much to me so I never bothered.
In answering the question, Hatton is quite possibly the best British fighter in the last ten years, certainly top five. In the world, well I don't think it is realistic to say he is top 30 of the last ten years just yet. It all depends on who his next (last) five fights are with and how they pan out. There has been a lot of talent since 1997 in the world, and I think it is premature to judge an active fighter, because you never know what they are going to do next.
By the way, the term "Limey" was used by American sailors to describe the British because of their officer-mandated habit of drinking their rum laced with lime juice. This was to prevent scurvy, a debilitating disease caused by lack of vitamin C. So when an American calls you a "limey" they are in fact making fun of you for not having scurvy.Comment

Nah, America still got tasty fighters, Mayweather, Taylor, Dawson, Judah can all still achiveve more success.

Brits are an ethnic minority in North America, with a different accent, different slang terms, different culture, and different ways of doing things. ********** everywhere get picked on by the majority.
I don't support Hatton because of his nationality, but I do defend him when people attack him because of his nationality. If I lived back in the days of Jack Johnson, who was frequently discredited because of his race, then I would have defended him as well. I think racism, ethnic hatred, and animosity based on someone's nationality is ******.Last edited by Steelhammer86; 05-15-2007, 06:10 PM.Comment
