The only problem I have with boxing

This is one of the reasons that spectators (not including me) say that boxing is on its decline. There is one good fight a month. There should be big fights at least every other weekend. I know that that isn't easy to do, but going a full month without and HBO fight really sucks.

Its impossible to have big fights every other weekend, but the next 3 months will have a lot of significant fights. Brewster/wlad II, Wright/Hopkins, Cotto/Judah, Miranda/Pavlik, Spinks/Taylor, Hatton/Castillo, Margarito/Williams, Forrest/baldomir, and probably maskaev/peter.

I'm inclined to agree. I heard the Kelvin Davis fight last night was good, so does that make up for the DLH/PBF fight? It's like more people watched an ok fight in DLH?PBF and probably missed a good fight last night(I missed it due to a damn birthday thing ).
the whole reason I have Showtime AND HBO is that in the mid-90's they each had killer fights on every month it seemed. it was expensive but worth it

I think they do a decent job, its just sometimes they have 3 title fight weekends in a row then nothing for like a month. Might do better to spread things out.

The biggest problem IMO is punch counting as seen in the DLH/Mayweather fight. The counters showed a clear double standard in acknowledging Mayweather's excellent defense but ignoring Oscar's own. If it happens in that fight, it can happen anytime. Building upon this, it would be nice to learn what the hell really decides a decision victory, because TV commentators sure cant/wont explain it!

Other problems: Gloves to big now for welterweights(not actually doing much for safety-remember the UFC effect, less blows= better brain health, even if you dont get KO'ed as easily)

Yeah when I saw the compubox numbers first put up in that fight I was totaly surprised by them and that very rarely happens.

Don't get me wrong, I also like to see the "big" fights occur more often But there is a lot of good boxing out there even if the promotion machine isn't on overdrive. Just because the boxers haven’t yet established themselves in the media doesn’t mean the fight won’t be exciting.

But the point is valid as I understand that the success of this sport relies on the fringe fans being attracted as well.
