Cal Brock vs Alex Gonzales June 2

According to boxrec, Brock is scheduled to fight Alex Gonzales on the undercard of the WBO title match between Champion Shannon Briggs and contender Sultan Ibragimov.

Gonzales, tomato can at best, has lost his last 3 fights by KO and hasn't fought in two years; looks like Brock is on the "Joe Mesi" diet fighting these no-namers who have little chance to survive nevermind winning.

Frankly, I don't know what to make of this; the hw division suffers when you have decent fighters like Brock, Mesi, etc fighting such inferior competition in the hopes that they'll earn a title shot or eliminator.

I much rather have seen Brock against someone like Thompson, Krasniqi, Minto, Fields, Gomez, etc than against this bum.

    Thoughts?

I am very disappointed - I was hoping he would fight a contender. Someone like Taras *****ko wouldn't be a bad opponent. Or better, Chris Byrd or Ty Fields. Brock is a capable boxer, I think he's better than 15 to 20 of the top 25 heavyweights, so he doesn't need to fight tomato cans.

I've never been a huge fan of Brock's because of his 'charisma defiict,' but having said that I agree that he's a very capable hw and probably beats quite a few guys in the top twenty. I don't know what his strategy is now but he's not gonna help his stature any by fighting 'tomato cans.' I guess we'll have to see who he fights next before entirely condemming him...
