2.2 Million Buys: Will Boxing Become a Major Sport Again?

I think it's very clear that boxing is not dead based on the success of this PPV. Will it help boxing's popularity knowing so many people watched this fight? Do you think boxing can become one of the most popular sports in the US again? Or will things now return to how they were before this fight happened?

in the 700's, but its a very new sport so when it reaches its beak it will be like 2 million as well.

But i definetly think this will do the sport good.

I think it COULD be a mainstream sport again, but it would take decades.

IMO, it'll remain a NICHE sport until someone is really able to bring the sport back again, whether it be a heavyweight or a middlweight.

And we have HUNDREDS of promising prospects

It definitely won't hurt boxing with those numbers, but I doubt it makes a drastic difference. I hate to say that, but boxing I think has become more of an event sport. Meaning the mainstream public will only come out to watch it if huge names are fighting each other. I hope I am wrong, but its fine with me I will continue to watch all the fights no matter what.

if people are thinking that one megafight is gonna suddenly turn boxing into a mainstream sport again, you people need ot wake up. boxing is so hurt and so sick and so corrupt right now, it will take a LOT more than just one megafight to turn things around.

wake up, people. this fight changes nothing about boxing.

The sport can become more popularity if it can bring in new fans. I think this fight brought in many new fans...

even if this fight brings in new fans, those new fans are going to be very disappointed very soon when they see that not all boxing matches are like mayweather/de la hoya.
