DLH-Mayweather should not rematch - better options for Floyd

Every boxing website I turn to says Oscar and Floyd should do it again, and 'the fans are demanding it.' I felt Floyd won a close decision, and I don't feel that the rematch would be any different. I would rather see Floyd take on Shane Mosley - who I feel would have beaten him last Saturday, had he been in the ring instead of De La Hoya. Beating De La Hoya again will do nothing more for Mayweather's legacy than it already did the first time. Beating Mosley will put another Hall of Fame fighter on his resume, should he win - something he needs if he actually does care about legacy. De La Hoya and the Castillo victories are the only really impressive wins on his record, in which he won narrow decisions each time.

Pbf needs to make it clear that he won, like he did when he had to face Castillo a second time

I think a draw would had been the better choice

It was pretty clear even though the cards were close. Floyd was simply faster and more accurate.

The reason I've brought all of this up is because Floyd keeps talking about retirement. If he wants to be considered an all-time great he needs more than a win over De La Hoya. Sure - two wins would be better. But if he fought only one more time, Mosley is the best choice for his legacy.

good post, i totally agree he shoud fight mosley. i dont think he can beat mosley but, that is the biggest fight out there for him and the only other hall of famer he can face right now. beating mosley will be more impressive and improve his resume than if he were to fight a cotto, williams, marga etc. im not sayin they aint gd fighters but they are not estabished yet. maybe a few years later and it would be worth it.

I agree except Floyd has more credible wins including Genaro Hernandez, Jesus Chavez, Manfredy, Corrales (who a lot of posters think is HOF worthy), Judah, etc.

I agree Mosley may be the most exciting fight, but DLH is still the most profitable.

good post! While we all want to see Mosley/Mayweather, and Cotto/Margarito, as the final four, with the winners meeting in a mega-fight, anything with DLH in it will generate more. Oscar can still ****, no doubt. But he aint the same, let's face it. The dude brings in the mula, the casual fan. Mayweather Needs to fight....

            1. Mosley
            2. Cotto
            3. Margarito
            4. Williams (in 2 years)
            5. Hatton

Should he beat ALL, and convincingly....Then will he be mentioned along with SRL, Duran, Hearns, as ALL TIME GREAT!

It's better for boxing worldwide if the rematch happens.

an out of shape mosley probably would have beaten floyd. But floyd's staying retired because he's a b....

**** a rematch, Oscar was 'out of his league' when he stepped into the ring with Floyd. Floyd needs a much more difficult opponent who will push him to the brink like Shane Mosley. And frankly, I will not pay again to watch a boring predictable boxing match..

A rematch only makes sense because it makes dollars. I personally don't want to see a rematch because I think PBF will dominate even more and DLH at his age could never match the speed of Floyd. Mosely would make a lot more sense for Floyd's legacy, but it probably wont make the same kind of dollars.
