Spinks Hopes Taylor Wins Lands Mayweather

Kevin Cunningham, trainer of IBF junior middleweight champ Cory Spinks, saw Floyd Mayweather's split-decision win over Oscar De La Hoya as one of his easiest. [details]

That's if Spinks wins, which won't happen. Kevin Cunningham is crazy if he thinks Mayweather will actually pay any attention to Spinks, and I doubt Mayweather would get out of retirement to fight Spinks, even if he beats Taylor.

Floyd would flat out do what he liked with Spinks. Plain and simple.

I think he'd beat on him untill the fight was stopped. I don't care how crafty someone is going to tell me Spinks is......yeah right. Floyd is faster, stronger, smarter, hits harder, has better footwork, balance, defense and has fought and beat a much better level of opposition than Spinks has.

Floyd's looping right hand might be the best single punch in boxing and even better than pac's left and Wink's jab. That right hand is ****ing fast and he throws it in a lead fashion. Crazy.

Yeah, I agree that the chances of Spinks getting past Taylor are bleak. Jermain is very skilled at beating smaller men - it's what he has chosen to do as middleweight champion.

As far as the outside chance that Spinks becomes the man at 160 by beating Taylor, and luring Mayweather up to fight him- it doesn't seem that crazy to me. I think Floyd is frustrated that no matter whom he fights people won't give him credit because his style is not that of a punch trading brawler. He moves and uses angles - making him a runner to some. In response to his lack of respect it seems Mayweather has decided to grab as many belts at as many weight classes as he can. If he takes out a weak link in Spinks he'll have a belt at a sixth weight, no? Just the type of thing Floyd would love to blabber about on television.

By the way, anyone else think Floyd, should he move back down to 130, could be the dominant force he wishes to be by knocking out Pac-man or maybe taking on Marquez? He still carries power down there and he could look good if he got back to putting people on their asses....but can he still even make 130?

Floyd would jump at the chance to fight Spinks for the middleweight title. He'd love to get a title in a 6th weight division. From memory the record is 7 weight divisions by Tommy Hearns, but I could be wrong.

I wonder how many miles Mayweather ran in the ring to get those 5 titles so far.

I think he would...I mean the opponent kind of sucks if he fought Spinks because it wouldnt be that big of an attraction as it should be. But Mayweather would jump on the chance to fight a fighter for the 160 pound crown...Especially if your name is Cory Spinks who really belongs at 147.

I think Mayweather would take it but I think he would demand to much money than the fight is worth considering a rematch with Oscar looms and is worth double or triple what he would get.

Spinks only chance to beat Taylor is to have a big ring and stay on his toes...I dont see that happening.

The record is six by De La Hoya, if you choose to count the WBO middleweight title
