MMAers wonder why we seem so stubborn, and we wonder why MMAers seem so stubborn. It's for the simple fact and point that you people fail to understand, that professional Boxing is the riskiest sport on the planet. It's the one sport that has a chance to take all of your life essence from you, if you **** up in the slighest.
You can go on and on about knees, and how you saw this guy get his ass beat, but it's all bull****, and I'll explain why.
You have to understand that throughout a boxer's life, the boxer trains to punch in crisp, clean combinations...The jab is something a boxer first learns, and when the boxer gets to the world level the jab is nothing more than an extension of their arsenal, a 'rapier', so to speak. So much more advanced than any punch a world level MMAer possesses, in power and speed, that it is about like one of their guys' straight right hands, if we're talking about a boxer with a good jab.
In MMA, you get grounded and get the CHANCE TO TAP OUT IF YOU FEEL HURT. SURE, THERE'S KO'S....BUT HONESTLY, I WANT YOU TO WATCH THE CLIP of MERCER KOING MORRISON, WATCH HOW THE ROPES HOLD MORRISON UP AS THAT TRAINED HEAVYWEIGHT TEES OFF ON HIS CHIN WITH HARD POWER SHOTS....THAT, FOLKS, IS >RISKY BUSINESS<
You do not see that kind of action in MMA, ten years from now you won't see that kind of action in MMA. Because you'll never have a guy who only trains in striking with his upper body getting a guy hurt, because nobody in MMA only trains in upper body striking. If you aren't beginning to understand me, then let me press forward with a little more information.
WE DONT RESPECT YOUR SPORT BECAUSE TOO MANY RICH ******* DO THAT INSTEAD OF BOX,BECAUSE THEY KNOW IT'S A WEAKER SPORT. ONE LOCAL MMAER THAT HANGS AROUND A BUNCH OF MY FRIENDS, told me the reason he didn't box was because 'it's all black, and they're too fast'. it was, as you can imagine, a soft white kid, trying to make a name for himself because his brother was quarterback in high school, and he has always lived in the shadow of a tougher brother who always ****ed with him. Whatever.
Anyway, before I could explain to him that timing beats speed, I was in the yard with one left glove on, and he had on two boxing gloves. I told him he could take me down if he wanted to, and that I would beat him down with one left glove, to prove to him how much better boxing is.
We square up he charges me as he sees me step in with a big jab. Locks me up and gets his arms around me and tries to throw me down while I get a wide stance and begin to plant big left hooks straight to his core. Two shots and he falls down, the second hook that hit his mid section hit an unflexed stomach. I felt his organs as my gloved fist dug in,
then we spent the next two hours discussing world level boxin and world level mma. the guy doesn't even train for MMA anymore and I single handedly converted him to a boxing fan and boxer in training- he goes to 14th st gym now instead of the 60 a month soft ass gladiator ***** preppy fight school.
