    Who Should Boxing Appeal to?

After the few days and the obvious big fight on may 5th, several questions have been raised about the state of boxing, and the priority of fighters.

Therefore i want to know from you all,

Does a boxer have a duty to risk his health and go toe to toe for the benefit of the ratings?

    or

Should a boxer put his health first and be cautious in the ring, even if boxing doesnt gain ratings?

That's kind of a hard question. The goal of any sport is to go out there to compete and win, but with boxing the big stars are the ones that also enertain and win. Even so some fighters who lose a lot of fights, but still bring a great fight everytime still make good money (ex. Gatti, Ward).

I think maybe some fighters should at least take that risk of going toe to toe and letting their hands go for a little bit at least. If it doesn't work then go back to boxing, but in the end I think a fighter has to do what he does best and gives him the best chance of winning.

Exactly, its about self preservation, if was a boxer, i would fight to win, i wouldnt fight to the advantage of my opponent so that Dave Smith at home has a goodnight infront of the TV with a steak and Kidney pie and a pint of tetley's.

And for the record, boxing from the outside is not running, thats how ****** this running thing is getting, anyone who doesnt stand still and let the other guy hit is a 'runner'.

          lol.

Exactly, win first, then worry about how you win, boxing is a sport after all.

The job of a boxer is to win fights, it is the job of promoters and networks to make fights which are entertaining.
