This actually relates to questioning Floyd's "All time Great" status:
Personally, I sometimes find it hard to put Floyd up there with Ray Robinson, Leonard, Hearns, Duran, etc.
Although when I look at it again, I am not sure I can deny he is a "Great"
Maybe it is because they are the "Legends" or maybe boxing has declined in talent and fighters today are just not as good as people make them out to be.
If Floyd stayed in the 130's or even at 140, could anybody beat him now?The only person I saw giving Floyd trouble at one time was Kostya Tszyu (before all of his injuries and few years off).
Just remember, Floyd fights on fight-night at welterweight. If I am not mistaken, even Pac in his last fight showed up at 147 come fight time. I am not even sure Mayweather has actually showed up come fight time 15 pounds over his weight class come the night of the fight like so many others do.
I just can't see anybody beating Floyd from 140 down:
Morales, Barrera, Pac, Hatton, Casa, etc. all would be beat. The Mexicans and the Phillipine will most likely be called "All time Greats", yet can anybody see them beating Pretty Boy?
Some people seem not to care that Floyd is fighting bigger opponents and is taking bigger risks. Others have stayed at one weight class their entire careers and solidify their legacy as "All time Greats", yet when it comes to Floyd or even Shane Mosley (who was incredible at 130's) they are out of the equation of "All time Great" status based on that particular weight class.
I don't want to hear that the Mexicans and the Phillipine moved up in weight; all of them have cut a lot of weight to make their particular weight class at the time. Morales and Pac are good examples because they have both lost fights from trying to cut to much weight/not fighting in their "real" weight-class.
So anyway, Who today is an "All time Great" that is fighting, then compare him to Floyd Mayweather Jr.
