Well it seems that Floyds sparring partners have served their purpose just fine.

There are fighters out there who have spent many years in the game yet have never been able to come through in a bout of any consequence with a win. For some it is just nerves that hold them back. All of the skills are present in these fighters, except the skill to perform infront of a crowd. Something happens to these fighters when stepping up onto the apron to throw fists. These fighters may lose in the sanctioned bouts but glove them up in some delapitated old gym and through them in with ANY fighter and they will amaze you and deliver a hard lesson of the old school game.

I had a kid on my amatuer team who was one hell of a tough throw in the gym. We would spar regularly and he would do great against me and most others. He was a cool acting cat that did not let anything bother him, then fight time would come. On the ride to the weigh-ins hes all freaking out, much like Tweek on south park except hes not sying much at all. He'll run to the bathroom multiple times while awaiting his turn to fight and would normally be broken into a sweat before even attempting to warm up. The bell rings for the fight and you would swear that your not watching the same fighter.

But with this kid, he rose to the occasion this one time. I believe that it was the Golden Gloves and he was matched with a tough and old school dog by the name of James Fortune. Kevin boxed his ass off and looked incredible, just as he always had in the gym, and was awarded the fight. He still cant believe that he did it.

So what I am saying here is that just because these guys arent known does not mean that they cant fight. They most certainly can fight if they are in a champions camp working as sparring partners. Some just cant do it infront of the crowd..................Rockin'

"Quality" fighters do not work as sparring partners. Shane Mosley was simply helping out a friend in Oscar de la Hoya.

Getting four or five guys who all have atleast one thing in common with the guy you're fighting is perfect for fight preparation.
