There has been alot of talk on here about how the fight stats werent true and how Oscar blocked alot of his punches. They also say that Oscar was landing alot of blows even though they were on the arms.
Boxing rules clearly state that if you block the punch then it is not a scoring blow. I will be the 1st to admit that Oscar had some good D and that he blocked alot of Floyd's shots but look at the difference between Floyd's punches compared to Oscar's. 90% of Oscar's punches were wide punches where they were so easy to see. Anyone could easily see all of them hitting Floyd's arms, rolling of his shoulders, or Floyd just slipping them all together. A few times he completely whiffed. Oscar's percentage was spot on.
Meanwhile, Floyd shot 80% of his punches straight down the pipe. 1st off Oscar didnt even attempt to block any of Floyd's body shots. He just kept his guard up the whole time. On the head shots all of them connected with something and they were mostly all down the middle. That makes it harder to tell if they were blocked or not and alot of them did get threw wether you like to admit it or not. Thats why I think the stats were dead on. Its not like Floyd ever completely missed a punch. The all landed in clear scoring spots. Some were blocked and some werent. Thats the only reason why he didnt land a 100%. They really did take off for the one's Oscar blocked. Floyd never hit Oscar on the arms or shoulders like Oscar did a million times. The 20% punches that Floyd threw wide, nearly 90% of them landed. He hit Oscar a ton with those wide looping rights, e****ally as the fight went on. Even Steward later in the fight admitted that Floyd was throwing Oscar off now by throwing 2 down the pipe and then throwing a looping punch on the 3rd and it kept Oscar guessing.
The punch stats were real. Most of Oscar's shots were wide puches on the arms & shoulders that were clear to see. Most of Floyd's shots were straight down the pipe scoring punches. 99% of his punches in that fight were scoring punches. It was just a matter if Oscar blocked them or not and thats why it went down to 57%. They counted those blocks. Most of Oscars werent scoring punches, atleast against a great defender they werent. If your not going to shoot punches down the pipe then your just not going to land much on Floyd. Alot of people made a big deal about Floyd being on the ropes but they make it sound like thats a bad thing for Floyd. Floyd's just like Ali, he doesnt care about being on the ropes. He does it every fight. He gets on there and lets you punch him because he will block them and it will wear you out so he can come back on you. After Oscar would do this then Floyd would come back where? Straight downn the pipe or to the body which Oscar never blocked, and the occasional looping punches that all landed
