Last I checked Bell/Mormeck was in this past March.

So go ahead and just scratch that off your list unless you didn't watch it. That was one of the most exciting fights maybe the most exciting since Mayal Monshipour/ Somsak Sathcatchawal and Castillo/Corrales I.

And Bell is one hundred times more exciting than both of those guys that fought on last night's undercard.

I cant believe the ref actually did a standing 8 count. Bautista was very lucky.

I thought it was a good fight, a fun fight. Fight of the night, sure. Fight of the year? Katsidis-Earl, Marquez-Vazquez, Mormeck-Bell II... so far, I'll say Top 5, but I doubt it will hold up by years end. Honestly, I'd be shocked if anyone remembered it a month from now.

Bell allowed Mormeck to gas out by letting him land shots on his face.........then he taunted him over and over, stood still and let him pound away some more, then taunted him and sent Mormeck fumbling around the ring hurt bad.

I've never seen anyone put on that type of show before, ever. People make such a big deal about how exciting Mayorga was by dropping his hands a couple of times in a fight...........****. Bell just dropped his gaurd and walked forward for round after round and allowed Mormeck to punch him.

            That **** was ****ing awesome.

That was definitely the fight of the the night, the most exciting of too. Bautista looked good, though he was in serious trouble at one point.

Wasn't a standing eight. Bautista was falling backward and reached his arm out to grab the rope. If the referee feels the ropes keep you from being knocked down, he can rule it a knockdown.

still very lucky for him, that the referee called it such, sometimes its a let go situation, if not he was vulnerable for another big hit ...

and have to add that it was a good call of the the referee...

and i think its not totally ******ed to be a candidate for FOY, of course
the fight wont win it, or were totally f_cked up this year, but for now, i think its in one of the top 10 fights of the year ...

(but it just me i barely watched 10 fights this year .... lol)

"In the opening bout, Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista, 23-0, 17 KO’s, fought what could be the “Fight of the Year” against Sergio Manuel Medina, 28-1, 16 KO’s. From start to finish, we saw an all out war between these two little men with both men suffering from knockdowns and battling toe to toe. In the end, “Boom Boom,” the Filipino sensation had more and pulled it out when you thought that he was not going to even make it to the end.

This was a WBO Super Bantamweight Eliminator and both men fought like it was their entire career on the line. Medina and Bautista both should have title consideration and I would like to see these guys in the ring again. Bautista may be the man to pick up the torch and run with it when Manny Pacquiao rides off into the sunset. He certainly has heart and power and is one of the most promising little guys on the scene.

The judges were once again unanimous for “Boom Boom” by the scores of 116-108, and 115-109 (twice). RSR scored it 114-110 for the Filipino warrior."

It was a ref's judgement call and other ref could have stopped the fight in that kind of situation and give the fight to medina. Boom boom was lucky, joe cortez wasn't the referee.
