Move toward the ropes as he's trying to slip around, then move forward making him to give ground and move to the other side, then move to the ropes on the other side, same thing back and forth until you have him backing into a corner or into the ropes. Stevens, instead of anticipating him, was reacting to him.

Get in the middle and move with him untill you have a chance to trap him in a corner .
