The similarities between De La Hoya vs. Mayweather, and the Rocky series are uncanny. Its been pointed out before, but theres another that I noticed last night.
Apollo training Rocky to beat the loud, rude and superior fighter Clubber. Mosley sparring with Oscar to beat the loud, rude and superior fighter Mayweather.
In 'Rocky Balboa', the aging fighter goes up against the fast, undefeated Dixon who has yet to be tested and is unappreciated. Veteran Oscar fights the fast Mayweather who also has not had to dig deep and is still unappreciated. The fight itself was quite similar, without the knockdowns. And even the end result was the same.
If theres a rematch, I wonder if it would add to the similarities.
