De la Hoya Not a Great Fighter

De la Hoya is unfortunately not going to go down in the history books as a great fighter because he never won against his peer greats. He was a very good fighter and had the potential and skills to be great but he did not utilize them. This was most easily seen in todays fight. It was a competitive fight for the first half because of his great jab despite the fact that he didn't even use it that much.

If he had fought with just his jab and a right hand to keep Floyd honest he possibly could have won the fight. When he was pumping the jab Floyd was getting hit and backing away. When he was standing still he was getting nailed. Everyone that night could see it but him. I wanted to be a part of the crowd and start a "jab, jab, jab" chant. Maybe then it would have been a jab night.

And whoever thinks Floyd is gonna be able to beat Winky is out of their mind...
