De La Hoya just said Mayweathers trash talk is bad for boxing..

Do you think this is true? He said it gives boxing a bad name and puts the sport down. Do you think it gives boxing a bad image??

Couldn't be much worse than the sport's most popular fighter going to jail for **** and biting his opponent's ear off...

      Not really.

      It's negative effect is minimal.

It's not a big deal. Even in the days when boxing was more popular, people said far more worse things than what Floyd says.

        ???

unfortunately it does give it a bad image because people hate to see someone telling the truth about things and hold nothing back like floyd does, but it definitely shouldnt give it a bad image.

I think it has no effect really.. I mean fights have sold with two good guys and no trash talk, and fights have sold with a good guy bad guy and bad guy bad guy images. I think there is a limit to it but since its America say whatever the **** you want.. Now fans might not like you for it, but thats on you. Its all about image and how you pull it off.. Some can and get more fans because of it, some can't and get disliked.

If De La Hoya really is more concerned about what's bad for boxing then he shouldn't promote garbage PPVs like Barrera-Fana and that "Mexican Glory" card last year.

Well I disagree with De La Hoya.
              There's a good guy and there's a bad guy.
Oscar is not going to be the bad guy, so Floyd has to assume that role.
There's no such thing as being a nice guy and bad guy at the same time.

LOL that's what I am saying.. I don't like Floyd, but at the end of the day its all about diversity. If everyone was the same in boxing it would be dull.

Don't believe a word O-De La Hoya says! He loves it when Mayweather trash talks him. Everytime this fight gets more and more controversial, and the more and more this fight SEEMS to become personal another customer buys the PPV.

Oscar De La Hoya and Mayweather have got this whole bout set up wonderfully to milk it for every $. By making ODH seem a goodie and Mayweather a baddie they have ensured as much media coverage as possible.

By saying he hates Mayweather's trash talking, ODH is only adding more to the media coverage.

Didn't Holyfield v Lewis do well?? There was no bad guy in that fight. Like I said.. It has no effect.
