My ultimate goal was to be world champion, from the age of 13 when I won my first ABA title in Derby. I finally got there the night I beat Eubank, that was my lifetime goal achieved.
But the thing is, it was on at gone midnight and it was pay-per-view and so not many people saw it and I felt as if I deserved more recognition, especially when I looked back at Eubank, Benn and Steve Collins all fighting eachother and making millions of pounds in front of millions of people.
So since then I've been fighting for recognition and respect, yes it's been hard, I fought three 12-rounders in a row with a busted hand, wrist and elbow because I had a family to feed. I got back on track with great fights against Omar Sheika, Richie Woodhall, Charles Brewer, (and) Byron Mitchell but then I had domestic issues with my ex-wife that dragged on until recent times.
Listen, if I had my way, I'd be long retired right now. I'd have fought the Roy Jones's and the Felix Trinidad's and tried my hand at light-heavy, I'd be out at 29 just like I said after I won the British title against Stephen Wilson. But things never go the way you plan.
I certainly couldn't have planned the whole Jeff Lacy thing, that was just a dream come true. It was the first time I was an underdog in my life, and I fought the best fight of my life on the most important night of my life.
I can tell you it's a dream come true to be in this position I'm in now, I've worked my ass off for 26 years to be in this position, to have a few big pay-days and then get out.
It's great to finally be recognised when I'm in London and even New York!

Listen. All of these guys - Taylor, Hopkins, Kessler, Winky Wright - they only throw two punches!
I definitely think I can do a job on any two of those four, the speed of my punch is faster than the speed of their punch. All of them.
When they throw those straight punches, I'll be coming over with my own and mine will get there first. They don't throw combinations.
If mine don't get there first, for every punch they land I'll be throwing four or five in return.
When I lead off I'll be on the inside, not laying on the outside. That's who I am, I'm a heart figher.
