What I mean is, will having more shows like the "De La Hoya-Mayweather 24/7" going to put more of the casual's fan interest back into boxing? Think about it, most people don't know anything about these fighters, this show helped to really get more knowledge about who these fighters are for those people that may have never seen them fight before. Thanks to this show, I can actually talk to a casual fan a bit more since they know more about these fighters after seeing the show. We should have had this years ago, I mean could you imagine a Lewis-Tyson 24/7 back when they fought in 2003? Everyone would have wanted to catch that show, mostly to see what Tyson was going to do next. Or fights like Tito-Oscar, DLH-Vargas, Floyd-Judah, DLH-Mayorga, Hopkins-Tarver, etc. I think it could help PPV sales especially since the people who don't follow the sport as religiously as we do, will be able to get to know the fighters, as well as see what they have accomplished, and become familiriar with their style before deciding to order the fight.
Hopefully in the future we will get the chance to see more shows like this leading up to some of the big fights so that people will get to know more about the fighters, but it will have to be the right fights of course though. I mean watching that show has me anticipating the fight that much more now thanks to the show. In fact, I am almost sad that the fight is already here because the attention and anticipation is unlike anything I have seen in my years of watching the sport, it has been a really enjoyable experience, and I have to give props to all of the parties involved(Golden Boy promotions, HBO, the fighters and their teams, etc.) for making this a really special time to be a boxing fan.
