    THEORY: Why Floyd is Retiring

After reading this thread in the Training forums about this guy quiting boxing because his hands kept ****ing up. Link to it below.

    It got me thinking....

Is Floyd retiring because he knows his bad hands won't hold up much longer in boxing?

He hurt his hands in most of his recent fights and he had to let the fights cruise to a decision because he knew his hands were ****ed up and he couldn't knock them out. So Floyd knows sooner or later his hands are going to break in a tough fight and he'll lose. Thats why he said he's retiring after the DLH fight. His hands just simply can't hold up.

I think this is why he breaks down in tears after some fights, he fights through so much pain in his hands and survives with a win.

    Just a theory...

Its possible. Who wants to have ****ed up hands after boxing. Especially when Floyd has 4 kids. Also I think Floyd would like to spend time with his kids, and just make money doing other things.

Sure it would be a good reason. His excuse was that he doesnt need boxing and that theres nothing else to do in the sport though. I dont buy that.

Fights with Mosley and Oscar (who have granite for heads) will be tough on Floyds hands.

I think Mayweather will retire. BUT.... like 2 years down the road, he will come back for a few fights. All the great ones do.

Baldomir was the first time he had hurt his hands in a very, very, very long time.

I don't know where you got "most of his recent fights" from.

                  Judah - hands were fine.
                  Mitchell - hands were fine
                  Gatti - hands were fine
                  Bruselles - hands were fine
                  Corely - hands were fine
                  Sosa - hands were fine
                  N'dou - hands were fine
                  Castillo - hands were fine.

The only other fights Floyd hurt his hands in were Carlos Hernandez, and Emmanuel Augustus, which were very early in his career. Rafael Garcia has done a masterful job of protecting his hands, probably the best in the business.

It's not Floyd's fault he was literally punching a rock for a head, in Baldomir.

When the Fight Network interviewed him just after the first press conference they asked him about his hands and he asked why they would even asked that question, saying his hands were fine and he hasnt had problems with them in some time.

I think against Baldomir he just used the hands as an excuse for the somewhat boring show. He probably just wanted to play that fight safe after seeing what happened to Judah against Baldomir. He didnt mention the hands again in the post fight press conference.
