Right... bloodthirsty hicks, there are more of them than there are of you and I. We may appreciate it for a sport but to the general public its a fight and if nobody is slugging it out they wont bother to watch.

    ---
edit: we live in an age of instant gratification, everything has to be instant and shocking or else people change the channel. if it's not a bloody fight then most people would feel that it wasnt that great... thats the opinion of most people. sad but true.

Boxing = Hit and not be hit,

      Not 'sluggin it out'.

So you prefer to watch amateur to professional boxing?

Lol, so De La Hoya and Mayweather should risk thier lives in the ring by sluggin it out,

Just for the pleasure of the coutch potato moron who has little interest in boxing and more interest in seeing two men smacking each other about?

        lol.

Amatuer boxing is techincal, just in a different sense, it all about scoring shots over a short period of time, im not saying it is as techincal as pro boxing.

Has nothing to do with this guy saying Mayweather and De La Hoya have to slug it out for the good of the paying public.

            What he really means is....

''If mayweather wins im not going to give him any credit, ill just say he ran away from de la hoya to earn a decison, real men slug it out in the ring blah blah blah''

It amazses me how many people on here claim to be hardocore fans of boxing (not me) but then critizse those who are techincally proficent as ''boring''

Its a major contradiction in terms imo.

Right so just to clarify, this guy claims the following

Fighters should abandon their skills and fight plans,

And slug it out for the good of the boxing public.

              LMAO. Incredible.

If we did that, wouldn't that undermine boxing by taking the skills level out of it, isn't the skill level of a boxer what separates boxing from two thugs smacking each other in the head.

              Think about it.

Go watch the baldomir fight again and tell me that was worth your money. did you buy it? i did... i buy most ppv boxing match because i like to support it. I dont consider myself a hardcore boxing fan but i am a fan... a paying fan.

Look, I could care less what you think about me or my opinion of floyd mayweather. I think he's a great boxer and i'm excited about the fight.

Unfortunately, you're too naive to understand that for the general public to consider this fight entertaining there have to be some exciting exchanges between the two boxers. Floyd Mayweather putting on a boxing clinic is not entertaining. Ask Larry Merchaint.

I never said that... you're reading too far into it. I think you're confused and consider me one of the dumbass fanatics on this site. I try to be balanced when i make a comment. I am not fanatical about any one boxer and I never said they were to abandon their defenses... what is wrong with you?

I am however realistic but you seem to have lost touch with reality... try to step back and not be a boxing ****.

U calling me Naive, then saying

' Floyd Mayweather putting on a boxing clinic is not entertaining'

                    LMAO. Pot-Kettle-Black.

Ok mate, im done with ya, i made my point, not getting turned on for a disscussion with you im afraid, better things to discuss.

Boxing is the sweet science 'hit and not be hit'.

Anyone who cant appriciate pure boxing skill as entertaining should question wether they are a boxing fan or a fight fan imo.

                    Bye Bye.

In my opinion the kind of qualities to be admired in sportsmen (regardless of the sport) is passion and desire to win, to battle to victory. Boxing is the art of hitting and not getting hit, but that's a very one-dimensional view of boxing. It has more. It has the passion and it has the warriors. I really enjoyed Barrera vs Juarez II despite it being a technical boxing match but that doesn't mean I don't get more enjoyment and inspiration from, say, Israel Vasquez getting off the floor twice to knock out Jhonny Gonzales on the very same night.

Besides which say the fight hits 2 million buys, you could extrapolate that maybe 10 million people watch it. Do you think all the ten million are going to want to see 12 rounds of jab-to-the-body-and-run?
