Right I had to do this on MS word cos of the length and so I could try and spell check it, cos you know my spelling is terrible.

Ill also miss out things through lapse of memory, ill try and get to them later.

Ill have to do this one post at time or ill be here all night.

    Today. I’ll start with History.

Serie a has always had the best players in the world, this is nothing new, it is the only league where at some stage the majority of the worlds best have played there at some stage, from Maradonna, to platini, to Zidane, Mattheus, Klinsmann, Cafu, go and check, most of the greatest play in italy at some stage.

this is because Calcio has a reputation especially amongst Latin and European countries which attracts these players. It is known as the hardest league in the world for a reason, its reliance on technique.

In England the technique is shocking, most teams can barley string together a 5 pass sequences, most goals are the result of poor defending, players doing poor man marking, scrappy set plays, but more importantly, because of these errors they are more clear cut chances per game in the EPL,

Its not because the prem is so exciting, but because the defending is so bad it doesn’t take much to score in that league.

Look at the players that have got 20 goals a season in this league

    Marcus Stewart
    Kevin Phillips
    Les Ferdinand

Infact just look at the list of all time Premiership scorers, and then compare it to Serie A, its embarrassing, honestly lol.

And the list goes on, not one of these players would get a game in serie a, EVER. Lol.

Premiership made its name on Serie a rejects, players that couldn’t hack it,

Henry scored 3 goals at juve, so what they played him wide left, he drifts out wide for arsenal anyways.

Bergkamp was rubbish in serie a, and then became one of the best players ever in the English game.

Zola, a legend in the English game, his last few seasons in serie a were dismal, thus why he had to go.

The list goes on and on, players who cant cut it in serie a, or old stars who go to England to collect their last big pay check, like Ravenelli, Vialli, guillit, etc.

Then you go to English players in Serie a, they can’t hack it, ever see Gazza in Italy?
He was shocking, lasted 2 seasons

Paul ince, 2 seasons I think, was cack,

    David Platt, cack

Etc etc, these days English players avoid serie a like the plague, they know they cant get away with all that hack and slash bull**** that goes on in England. Every single one of them that has come over has failed.

Which is why they moan about our league being sooo defensive, its just an excuse to mask the fact their best players couldn’t hack it over here, and our serie a players became Legends in the prem.

See what u think about that 1st, then ill go on another time.

Oh and just for the record, from 1992-2007, italian team been in the following champions league finals

    1992
    1994
    1995
    1996
    1997
    1998
    2003
    2005
    2007

lol, thats incredible, yes we are the most dominant and succesful nation in the Champions league.

um, where the hell were you betting. Every bookie and sports betting site i went to had Calzaghe a slight favorite over Lacy ... and if you're going to say crazy stuff, keep it reasonable .. 7-1? That's Taylor over Spinks level .. there's no way a bookie would give u those odds

Hang about, Calslappy has had more fights but you say those don't count...

In England the technique is shocking, most teams can barley string together a 5 pass sequences, most goals are the result of poor defending, players doing poor man marking, scrappy set plays, but more importantly, because of these errors they are more clear cut chances per game in the EPL,
The premiership is much faster and more physical than the Italian and Spanish leagues. That's what it's known for. Serie A is more technical with more emphasis on stringing passes together. Some players excel at the fast physical game and are less effective at the finesse game (like Henry), some players are good at the tricky skill game but can't handle the fast pace and physicality (such as Diego Forlan). There is merit to both leagues and the big decider for which you prefer is what you were raised with. I prefer the English game, you prefer the Italian game, and that's fine. But you couldn't effectively argue which version of the game is intrinsically better than the other. I mean your listing of statistics for Champs League winners doesn't hold up to much. Yes Italy has had a couple more runners up than anyone, but when you look at it by club, most of the time it has been AC Milan. So it isn't really reflective of the league, it's more reflective of the club. Of course when you look at finalists and runners up by nation you'll see that five Italian clubs have taken part in the Champion's League final, six English clubs have had a similar honour, so you could argue that the depth of the league is not quite as good in Italy, you have one or two dominant teams. You're also not accounting for the Uefa cup which is also an indicator of quality for teams that do not qualify for the Champions League. In the Uefa Cup England and Italy are tied in terms of success (in the modern format).

Furthermore bringing Italy's world cup wins into the equation is similarly no indicator of the efficacy of the Italian game. Sure there were four wins, but two of them were in the 1930s while the nature of the game was still being refined. In any case the Germans have won it 3 times after 1950 which makes recent (modern) performance better than that of Italy.

So, in short, each to their own. I am quite happy with the directness, pace and physicality of the English game, thankyou very much!

Most bookies, even in the UK, had Lacy favourite over Calzaghe.

So considering Calzaghe has had more fights, many of which being title defences. Presumably you'll agree that he's an incredibly well tested fighter then?

One thing about Serie A is that it is very boring, much like the Spanish league. Goals aren't the result of dominance and attacking play in those leagues, they just come out of nowhere after a long time of boring passing play.

Italian (league) football is nowadays known more for its corruption and violence than footballing brilliance.
