Some people are so good at not getting hit and are not used to being hit that when they do eventually get hit there cant cant handle it. RJJ when his reflexes were shot after coming down from heavyweight. Glencoffe koing him clean out.

If I were a boxer, my primary aim would be to win the fight and to get hurt as little as possible.

If boxing promoters want boxing to be seen as more exciting, they need to give less reward to boxers with the same mindset as me. Thus rendering a great defense fairly useless if it comes down to a points decision (though obviously still useful during the fight as it allows you to soak up your opponents energy and look for an opening whilst not getting particularly hurt).

The other end of the scale, boxing promoters needs to weigh up whether more exciting fights are worth the risk of having more high-profile injuries, brain damage and death on their hands tainting the world of professional boxing.

It's all about who is more effective at doing whatever the fighters fortey is. If an offensive guy is missing all his punches and the defensive guy is making him miss. Then the D guy gets the round (ala Willy pep winning a round with out throwing a punch). It's all about you effectiveness in doing what you do best and how it effects the other guy. Thats why every rule in judging criteria has the word EFFECTIVE in it. I think people tend to forget this or ignore it and just give rounds to guys for doing one thing and ignoring everything else the other guy did that was effective. This causes scoring to sometimes be skewed. You also have to take into account what kind of style the judges like to see.
