Top Rank Fires Back at Oscar and Floyd

During the media blitz for the May 5 showdown between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather, Jr., both fighters have taken some shots at their former promoter, Top Rank. After some recent comments made by De La Hoya during a conference call with the press, Top Rank decided to fire back in several newspaper interviews. [details]

but for some reason, I feel for Top Rank and Bob Arum.

They did bring both DLH and Mayweather up and make them what they are today. To have both those guys cut out their creator from one of the biggest fights ever is unfair.

This is not good for the boxing industry, and must have TOP RANK's guard up with their up and coming stars... as they make good fighters into stars under the Top Rank banner, they must be wondering.. hmmm has this fighter grown enough, is he about to bite the hand thats been feeding him all this time?

Bob Arum is an idiot. Does he really think these guys wouldn't have been stars without him? Oscar, Floyd and their training staffs are the ones that made them stars. Arum calls them "totally self-centered people" and then says he created them? Whatever.

If it wasnt for Bob Arum and TOP RANK, you wouldn't have a clue today on who DLH or Mayweather were.

Give credit where credit is due, the man MADE these 2 fighters. So he always tried to make the most money possible off of them, but thats the business, you and I would do the same.
