    Judah Fans = Excuse Makers

I can understand being a big fan of a fighter, especially one as flamboyant and shows as much promise as Zab Judah has shown in the past (great speed, real good power). I can see defending your fighter against the charges of his detractors, but Judah fans take this to a whole new level, they have been reduced to making excuses for their fighter.

--- He gets dropped by Tszyu, and made to do a dance like someone was shooting a pistol at his feet. His fans say lucky shot, Tszyu has super human punching power, Zab won round 1, Tszyu caught him behind the ear, Zab tried to jump up to fast, had the referee let it continue Zab would have collected himself and won. Anyone of these would due, but people are saying everyone of them at once, making it sound like they are grasping at straws.

--- Spink beats him, he's new at the weight, Spinks really didnt win, Spinks is akward, Zab was inmature but now he is mature, besides Judah came back and beat him. Ok these are actually somewhat acceptable.

Here is where is gets ridiculous

--- Baldomir beats him, making him look drunk at one point in the fight. Zab really won the fight, he wasnt prepared, Don king had him out making appearances, it was a lucky shot, Zab was out of shape.

--- Mayweather beats Zab, Zab was coming off a loss, Zab won the early rounds, It was close (really it wasnt, Zab edged a few early rounds, but by the middle of the fight Mayweather was winning round clearly, Zab pulled his double foul, and mopped up some lackluster late rounds.

Now he is getting ready to fight Cotto, and one guy is suggesting the fight will be like the Witter fight. Cotto will run from Judah like Witter did the whole fight? They say Cotto's hands are slow, well Baldomir was able to catch him, and despite what Zab's fans say Cotto is faster than Baldomir. They say Judah has a better chin, but only his hugging technique helped him stay up against Baldomir who isnt a power puncher. They will counter with Corley argument, but Cotto was back on track by the end of that round.

They make a strange concoction of their justifications of Zab, and scewing of the truth about Cotto to say their boy will win. What will they say when he loses this one?

I would say that most fighters with their hardcore fans are excuse makers

      Mike Tyson

-"Oh he didn't train hard for Douglas" (Probably, but whose fault is that?)

-"Oh Tyson lost to Lewis because of the meds" (yeah it wasn't the fact that Lewis is a big powerful skilled guy and Tyson was 14 years past his peak)

      Evander Holyfield

-"Oh he was robbed and he had a heart attack against Moorer" (close fight, nevermind that Moorer spent large portions of the fight jabbing the crap out of Holyfield).

-"He was sick and had Hepatitis/Herpes/Cancer/Flu/AIDS/Arm Hurt/Shoulder Hurt" (how many fighters do you think have to deal with injuries and ailments of their own?)

-"Holyfield fought poorly because he had the wrong game plan when he said God told him to knock Lewis out in 3" (Believe it or not, I've actually heard this as an excuse for his performance in MSG)

i am a zab fan but i have never made any excuses up for any of his fights, apart from the fact the baldomir fight was close and he did knock down floyd mayweather, but they arent excuses, both true

i think he will beat cotto but that depends if hes focused or not,hes 1 of the most talented fighters of the last 20 years when he actually tries

What I always hear regarding the Mayweather fight is "Judah started off well but lost focus and Floyd took over".

What happened is that he lacked the adjustment skills. Mayweather started timing the straight right hand and landing with consistency and went to the body better. Judah couldn't adjust, so he just took more punishment until he deliberately fouled Floyd.

I would say that Judah took care of his own case with Spinks when he knocked him out in the rematch. I would also be careful when you assert that performances against Mayweather and Kostya (two all time greats) are at all indicitive of how Zab will look against Cotto (a fighter who is still largely unproven).
