Yeah, I don't even know what the point of Calzaghe taking that fight with Peter Manfredo. I'd understand it more if he said it was tune up, but after he won against peter manfredo he said something in the line like RingMagazine has Peter Manfredo as I think top 10 or 13 ranked fight world-wide in the super middle weight division. Basically, he kept giving bull**** reasons on why he fought such a stinky fighter. I don't know who he was trying to fool with that fight, wales or America. Because everyone I know, who talked about this fight before that early stoppage, knew Peter Manfredo was that bum who got a second chance on that contender show. And no one in America takes that contender show serious at all. When ever I talk about boxing with people, we joke around saying those contender fighters. You know... wtf was that **** with that fight? From what I've heard, I heard Calzaghe got paid a little over 2 million to fight that contender bum... Damn, an easy pay day.

Hopkins didn't have a second belt to add to his IBF strap until his 13th defence and he didn't add a third until his 14th. He never had the WBO belt and his next defence after unifying against Trinidad was against Carl Daniels who cannot have been ranked as a contender by all of the WBC, IBF and WBA. Calzaghe was stripped for not facing Robert Stieglitz.

They are both in a fight for their life, if it's made.
Calzaghe has a work rate advantage. But Kessler doesn’t like to get hit more than once before moving his ass to a new location...
They both have good if not great stamina, and could go 15 rounds (Kessler has a 36bpm resting pulse).
Calzaghe takes more chances during a fight; Kessler will try to make him pay.
