quick error*Just to try and clear things up for you a bit, Floyd had a hand injury and wasn't going to fight anyone in August (which is when they first wanted him to fight Margarito). He said he wasn't fighting until at least October, which was basically him giving DLH time to make a decision. After that fell through, he was looking to fight Mosley, but Shane's tooth hurt. Hatton asked for $13 million and nobody wanted to see him fight Spinks. All of those fights were bigger than Margarito. He went from trying to fight DLH, to Mosley (great fighter), Hatton (140 champ), to Spinks (154 champ), so I don't think you can say he was ducking anybody. When it came down to it, he chose to fight Baldomir (the WBC champ who beat the guy who was the undisputed champ) for $8 mil instead of Margarito (WBO champ who won a vacant title) for $8 mil.
His hand injury was the reason he wasn't fighting until at least October (ended up fighting Nov. 4) and he didn't fight Margarito because.... well, who the hell is he?
the videos name was "Margarito confronts mayweather jr"
and i didnt say to believe it
and margaritos just some under-named Mexican. Marquez was under-named, and look at him now, he beat Barrera.
and when you dont wanna fight someone cause you dont know who he is, then that shows a little fear to a certain point.
ironically, paquiao (No Fear) gave Jorge Solis(undefeated unkown boxer) a chance.Last edited by ryu89; 04-24-2007, 09:22 PM.Comment

i ant de la hoya to win cause he is one of my favourite fighters and really, having seen de la hoya's whole career and like 18 fights of floyd i think if de la hoya is still 80 percent of what he was will take this easily, but i dont think floyd has beeen pushed to show his whole skillls so its really difficult for me to say de la hoya will win...Comment

I want DLH to win cus im tired of floyd's arrogant self. I guess u could say im sore he ducked margarito like he was the plague or something just like spinks, and judah did. I also feel like he has the stuff for greatness however he isnt hungry enough to seek it and that irritates the hell out of me, as far as im concerned his toughest opponent was in 2002 and thats way too long for someone who claims to be as great as floy and his hardcore fans do.
However i dont think DLH will win, Floyd is going to win is my prediction.Comment

Floyd could never be as popular as Oscar and never will be. he doesn't have the ability to draw people to the sport and outside of hard core boxing fans the casual fan doesn't know who Floyd is. Oscar is like what Tiger Woods is to golf in that he has the ability to attract people that wouldn't normallly watch boxing. Not to mention that a lot of people are turned off by his attitude. I think he is very envious of Oscar by the way he has acted, he always seems to be very insecure with himself as if he has a chip on his shoulder. That being said I want Oscar to win and hope that he knocks Floyd the **** out, but as long as he wins I would be happy with that.I believe there's an article mentioning that Floyd would've been on par with Oscar's popularity if not for his relationship with Bob Arum, based on his skills and style.
I think Bob was promoting both DLH and PBF at one point, but concentrated his promotional energies on Oscar.
It may or may not have been due to Floyd's attitude I guess.
Floyd, to me, is like when RJJ was fighting.
I prefer the boxing style to the brawlers.
Shows the sweet science in the essence: with boxing and ring generalship.
Like the stylists: Willie Pep, Ali, Leonard, Whitaker, etc.
Brawlers, to me, are boring to watch. Though I did like the Castillo/Corrales 1
match. That was both a rare and exciting fight to me.
That said, I want Floyd to win.

He turned down Margarito to fight Baldomir. Floyd said himself that Baldomir was a C rate fighter and he was less of a risk. He was older slow and in all honesty a journeyman fighter that had his fifteen minutes of fame. he beat an unfocused unprepared Judah which is no big surprise because that is what Judah is known for. He was just lucky that Baldomir happen to have the title because had he not that would have made him look even worse. There were a few soundbites on that vid.
I don't think...and this has been already discussed...
that Floyd was ducking Margarito.
The Margarito vs Clottey fight was proof enough that Margarito was exposed and can be stopped, IMO.
That said, I think Floyd turned down 8 mill to fight Margarito, to gain $10 mill to fight Oscar, a multiple champion and gold medal olympian, at a higher weight, and the possibility of making more mega-mil$ on a re-match...yes, with Oscar, if I'm correct.

I want Oscar to win because Floyd Mayweather is a bad person he has a big mouth and he is a woman beater.
--"The young prodigy has had legal troubles and several brushes with the long arm of the law as he has grown up in the boxing spotlight. In 2002 he pleaded guilty to two charges of misdemeanor domestic violence. In 2004, a Nevada justice of the peace ordered Mayweather to undergo "impulse control" counseling and sentenced him to a one year suspended jail sentence after he was convicted of misdemeanor battery of two women in a Las Vegas nightclub.
He also faced a charge of felony domestic violence for allegedly striking the mother of his three children outside a Las Vegas nightclub in 2003. In the 2005 trial by jury he was acquitted of hitting, kicking and pulling his girlfriend’s hair. The accuser recanted her version of events while on the witness stand. Josie Harris testified that she lied to police because she was angry Mayweather had left her for another woman. In front of the jury, Harris described Mayweather as a “teddy bear inside”." ---
Maybe what Floyd really wants is to fight some women in the ring ?Comment
