Thats like a cheap shot. If you win a street fight like that you earn no respect. Its like a low blow.

idk, i guess for boxing junkies, who are used to class, its hard to get into this stuff.

I can definetly see people liking it though
Ummm,... I fail to see the "cheap" part of cutting off the blood to a person's brain to win a fight? Please expound.

Even the nobody's in the UFC anymore are lethal.

Granted...its still boring as hell between KO's.....

But man...I love it when living legends that MMA guys squeal about for years get F'ING OWNED by unknowns.

ummmmmmmmm, i dont even know where to start here. u basiclly make this post, about a good topic, good fight... but u totally disrespect both fighters and that aint cool man

first of all the guy he fought may be considered a "nobody" to you, cuz u never seen him before, but trust me,that guy is no joke. why u think randy couture and other big names picked him to win. that guy is WELL ROUNDED, thats what rules mma, that guy has hands, feet, ground game from the top, ground game from the bottom. thats a complete fighter.and thats a great fighter, not a "nobody"

and crop cop hanst fought tough guys u said ??
u must really havent done your research, cro cop has fought some tough mothafuPPaz. and has beat , and lost to many big names... so for u to say that he is under-rated or whatever is a joke. did u see the ONE body kick he landed in the fight, it ****in put a huge welt on gonzagaz ribs, one more woulda broke a rib, thats insane power. he was in his best position. the feet.. he wanted to stand, and he got dominated.

it was a good fight man.
      kudos to both fighters.

and buddy who is talkin ****, if u dont got nuttin nice to say about fighters dont say **** man. specially if ur not a fighter

I agree with "punchDrUnK MONK" these guys live this **** like boxers do for you guys to come to this topic and start talking **** is bull****. MMA is hard because you have to train for every circumstance possible Jiu-Jitsu, Striking, Kicks, Elbows, Ground Game(fighting on top or the bottom is very different),
Getting out of holds it's a tough sport though I prefer boxing I dont agree with some of the ***** remarks that you haters make!.
Should appreciate the **** you fat ****s.

yeah i also dont understand that, how is it cheap to choke someone out. If anything its harder cause it takes about 20 or so seconds to choke someone out but when you have something like an arm bar locked in its pretty quick

He blacked out because he didn't tap, if he tapped the fighter would have let go before he blacked out but he didn't. I don't understand how this is cheap? It is a part of MMA. In a steet fight it isn't like a low blow. If a fighter can take his opponent down and choke him out, then he is a better fighter than the other.

In terms of class and respect, this argument is just plain wrong. Although there are instances of bad sportsmanship just like any sport, MMA is notorious for having fighters give each other full respect after a fight. Almost never do the fighters not shake hands and hug after a fight. If one of the fighters has been knocked out or hurt, a majority of the time the other fighter checks to see if he is ok. Many MMA fans have cited this as a reason why the like MMA more than boxing, the fact that two guys can beat each other up for 3-5 rounds and still embrace one another after the fight and in some cases go out after the fight together

And oh hell yes its more exciting to watch them on their feet.
Of course the boxer's head movement, timing, footwork, & defense would all be in the boxers favor, DUH. 'cause that's all a boxer works on. He doesn't have to worry about chokes, submissions, sprawling, defending a knee, elbow, foot stomp, etc.... If there's ever a boxer who's boxing technique is sloppier than a jiu-jitsu practitioner's technique, then there's something totally wrong with that picture. It's no different than a boxer's ground work looking sloppy to those who have a trained eye for the grappling arts.

What makes it boring are the guys on the bottom whose only strategy is to survive(ie cover up or just latch on to the opponent that is on top) and not attempt any type of reversal or simply fight back. It's no different than watching DLH run around the ring the last 4 rounds of a fight, or Mohammed Hakkar against B-HOP. IT'S BOTH EXCRUCIATING TO WATCH WHEN ONE GUY DOES NOT WANT TO FIGHT, NO MATTER WHICH MARTIAL ART IS INVOLVED. JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION.

I wouldn't exactly call Gonzaga a bum. Gonzaga an unknown, YES, but not a bum. Why do you think Couture predicted a Gonzaga win, albeit not the way any of us envisioned(including Couture) it. Even w/o the monster k.o., Gonzaga had the tempo of the fight going for him, he had Cro Cop where he wanted him.

Gonzaga and a few others like Brandon Vera are not bums, their colleagues have nothing but high praises for them. See, the MMA world is a little different, because some of these fighters, like the one's i've mentioned have been around just as long as the fighters we've been used to seeing on t.v., they've been invited, competed and some have won some of the most prestigious jiu-jitsu tournaments around the world, you often hear the ABU DHABI tournament and those tournaments only a few selected fighters they invite to compete. Both Vera and Gonzaga are ABU DHABI tournament vets

Very well said Monk, Cro cop is still one of the best JMO. He fought to tough rounds with Fedor and walked away on his own, and ko'd Wanderlai Silvia, He's not finished yet... I hope.
