    WBC Boss lays Into Calzaghe

World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman has venomously layed into WBO super-midleweight king Joe Calzaghe by declaring that his super-middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler ’could tie up his left hand and still defeat Joe Calzaghe’.

The long time WBC boss was quoted in the South Wales Echo newspaper as saying: “Mikkel Kessler could tie up his left hand and still defeat Joe Calzaghe.

“Calzaghe’s been led in his career by defeating many second and third-rate fighters. He’s never really met a first-rate fighter.

“Kessler is a super-fighter! Calzaghe would never even dream he could defeat Kessler.”

Its just rubbish isn't it? Surely even the biggest Kessler fan would not agree he could beat him with 1 hand hardly worth commenting on other than to laugh at it!

Sulaiman should be talking trash about Frank Warren. He's been protecting Calzaghe for years now. Even though Calzaghe is good enough to compete with the best.

Why is the WBC president making such statements? No other boxing body is saying stuff like that. The WBC loses credibility when it starts commenting on fighters.

The WBC were the only sanctioning body to have Librado Andrade ranked in the top 10. They even made him the number 1 mandatory, a fighter who had terrible footwork and ate loads of leather for 12 rounds against Kessler.

Anything to get Calzaghe out of his comfort zone. I always wondered what Calzaghe would look like against a good fighter

WTF. He claims Calzaghe has not fought any top fighters but Kessler is doing the exact same thing.

Cos he's trying to get some hype behind a Calzaghe vs Kessler fight, if they fight it is a no-lose situation for him. Either way he gets the most credible current title in the SMW division to add alongside his own organisation's belt.
