Arce whipping draws Darchinyan derision

VIC Darchinyan's fiercest rival, Jorge Arce, has been exposed as a fighting fraud following a shock loss at the weekend, according to Australia's flyweight world champion.
The undefeated Darchinyan described Arce as a "******" and "limited" fighter after the Mexican lost a comprehensive points decision to WBC super-flyweight title holder Cristian Mijares in Texas last Saturday.
"Arce was made to look ******. All of this time, I said he was a limited fighter, and nobody wanted to listen - but now you can see that what I said is true," said Darchinyan, 28-0 (22 KOs).
Arce and Darchinyan are considered the most explosive boxers in the fly and super-fly divisions and fight fans have long been demanding a bout between the pair - but Darchinyan said that last weekend's result made Arce a lesser priority.
"I am looking for title fights," said Darchinyan, the IBF and IBO flyweight champion. "At the moment, he is far from a title. I think now it is going to take a little bit longer. I want to fight Mijares for his title. I think Arce has more fights to do before he can come to me. He has no titles, I have the titles and, at the moment, it is no use fighting him."
Darchinyan, who said he wanted to move up a weight class, said his criticism of Arce had been proved correct with the unanimous points defeat - Arce's first loss in nearly eight years and after 26 successive victories.
"I know that, before, people thought he was good and they were always talking about him - but the whole time, I knew I could beat him easily. When we fight, I will beat him by knockout. Arce is a one-way fighter - if someone smothers him, he looks like a ****** fighter."
In the past, Arce has labelled Darchinyan a loudmouth - but the Australian has backed up everything he has said about previous opponents.
Darchinyan looks likely to fight next on June 9 in Las Vegas and hopes to finalise an opponent by Friday. WBO super-flyweight champion Fernando Montiel is in his sights, although Darchinyan - who defeated Montiel's brother, Alejandro, in 2003 - complained that Montiel and others were avoiding him.
"I can't get a fight," he said. "I have asked a lot of fighters to fight and they don't want to. They don't want to go to hospital."
Meanwhile, IBF light-welterweight champion Lovemore Ndou has announced he will make his first title defence against ****y New Yorker Paul Malignaggi in Connecticut on June 16. "He has fast hands, good footwork, is a good mover - but I will beat him down," said Ndou, who plans to defeat Malignaggi then target the winner of the Ricky Hatton v Jose Luis Castillo bout a week later.
