    Winner Takes Larger Purse

Here's and idea--instead of guaranteeing the fighters a particular amount of the money(i.e. a 60/40 split b/c one fighter is more of a draw than the other), why wont promoters and boxers negotiate a split, but for the winner and the loser? I think it would make for better fights. Both fighters will have something to fight for instead of these half-assed performances we have been seeing. It would be less likely that a fighter would take a dive, knowing that he has a chance to make more money if he wins. These fights with garaunteed money to the fighter lead to them not training as hard as they should which leads to lack-luster fights. Lets' give the money to the better fighter that night. And if the fight was cloase and good, then it would be alot easier to make rematches. what does everyone think?

Yea you're probably right. But if the winner is given the bigger purse, every fight could be a big fight. with the motivation that an underdog may have to not only win the fight but to also get the bigger share and the fear that the bigger named fighter may have of not just losing but losing a fair amount of money, i think it will give boxing the shot in the arm it needs to get back to the mainstream public. Remember, the bigger the fight, the bigger the money

LOL...yea and thats why boxing nees to be commissioned! can you imagine how poplular boxing would be if it had a commission? Get rid of all the alphabet federations and councils and have 1 uniform council.
          1. Forget all the alphabet champions, we would only have "real champions" therefore if he doesnt fight his mandatory he gives up his CHAMPIONSHIP and doesnt have any leverage to negotiate fights.
          2. Throw out negotiations. Purses will be split by the winner and the loser.
          3. Purse split will be dependant upon the difference of rank(i.e #1 vs #10 purse split could be 70 for the winner/30 for the loser...#1 vs #2 or #3 could be 60/40)..im not really concrete on what the numbers would be, im just throwing something out there.
          4. Fighters(other than the champion) will be ranked kinda like the BCS(althought the BCS has its problems as well) but rate them on their wins, losses, quality wins and quality losses as well as constant level of competition.
          5. No bogus requests from one fighter to another(i.e wearing a certain glove to take advantage of the other fighter's brittle hands. or ring size to gain an advantage. regulate a ring size for all fights and leave it a that.) Give the fans the bes fight available with each fighter ablke to do what they do best and perform at peak condition.
