For Britishers who don't read the Global section:

ITV told Frank Warren that unless they broke 5 million viewers on Saturday, they would look at pulling the plug on boxing. The viewing figures? 3.9 million. That's not bad considering that nobody is interested in boxing these days, but compare it to Benn and Hamed doing 8 million and Eubank doing 16 million every time then you get the picture... not that it's fair to compare, but there you go.

Warren's contract runs out in June, and I have it on good authority that he will be taking his stable to Setanta. You heard it here.

That'll be the end of Warren, very few people have Sentanta. Anyone know what the price is to get it? I would if it meant seeing Calzaghe etc and some more boxing hopefully. I dont blame ITV for dropping it though, very few people like boxing these days unfortunately.

ITV should try picking up shows from other promotional outfits.

I hope they dont drop it as ITV is the only place where i can watch live boxing, i thought they would keep it though, the viewing figures are higher than match of the day on bbc1 which is normally on at the same time, they should tell warren to stop being a **** and try and arrange some better fights.

I like live Boxing on ITV, for the comedy value if anything, where else would i get a channel telling me to suspend 2 hours of my life, to watch Amir Khan beat the local landlord of the 'red lion' pub in Berkshire?

Where else do i see Duke Mc Kenisie get his scorecard so wrong, he spends the rest of night giving rounds away in an attempt to make it look respectable?

Where else would i see Frank Warren saying he gonna match Scott the 'Real Mc Coy' Harrisson with Marco Antonio Barrera?

            Good old ITV.

Maybe they'd get better viewing figures if they publicised it a bit more (I wasnt even sure that it was on ITV until a few days beforehand) and instead of loads of crappy hype in-between they pretty much JUST had the fights on. Especially with such mismatched fights that didnt last anywhere near the distance, there was FAR too much padding.
