Froch: "I'll Show Joe Calzaghe The Money"

Carl Froch has offered to end the search for Joe Calzaghe’s next opponent and has told the Welshman that fighting him in London this July will make him more money than if Russian Denis Inkin was in the other corner. [details]

He's right you know. Of the options available for July he's the most attractive and lucrative option for the Calzaghe retirement fund.

Can we all pretty much agree that if Joe doesn't take this fight he's pretty much just a ***** who is too afraid to step up to the next level. Unless of course he fights an opponent who has a bigger name as is more of a threat than Froch.

A guy who has never fought anybody ranked in the top 10. Sounds like a Calzaghe target, but may not be..

No matter how good Froch is, he would be called an unproven hype job if Calzaghe won.. Outside the UK that is.
And then there is the small matter of Froch being better than his record list shows, he is dangerous. I'd be surprised if Joe went for this offer.

No different to Lacy or Kessler in that regard though.

It's a logical fight to make given the timelines and possible opponents. I really hope it's made.

Calzaghe has other options, he can fight Alejandro Berrio or Anthony Mundine.

Like I said, it would be big in the UK, but don get upset if no one outside really cares.

If you have been talking about nothing but "the big fight" for so long, this would be a let down. Don’t you agree?

You don't want us to compare Frochs achievements to those of Kessler and Lacy do you now? 3 out of Kesslers opponents are still rated in the top 6 by the ring. Froch's greatest achievement was beating Tatevosyan who was fresh of a loss..

I’m not calling Froch bad, but he really needs some fights to prove his abilities.

I'm comparing boxers rather than achievements. Far more relevant otherwise you could make some pretty spurious arguments about the merit of potential opponents. Froch is way ahead of the likes of Berrio or Mundine on that score and, for my money, only Kessler is on a similar level in the SMW division. I've been calling on Froch to fight the big players in the division for years so I'm certainly not going to defend him for not doing so.

I'm sure nobody will give a stuff outside the UK about this fight. It wouldn't make it any less of an excellent clash though.

So from looking at Froch beating Tatevosyan, you can tell he's on level with Calzaghe, and you don't want any prove before the fight???

Now i understand. You don't care about a fighter's achivements.. Thats why you love Calzaghe no matter if he fought Bika and Manfredo, and then moves on to Froch. You need no prove, you can tell!

                    I'm impressed.
