He was intimidated by Foreman, Cus drilled it into his head that Tysons style could not beat Foremans. God might as well have told Mike he couldn't win. Mike didn't want this fight, and would lose because he would be scared ****less. I love Mike and always have, but he had a weak mind and would have lost before the bell rang. Mike isn't dumb and he knew this.

The way i see it is this; if Alex Stewart can give Foreman hell and cut his face to shreds, then Mike Tyson (who obliterated Stewart in one round) of the same era can do the same if not worse. Yes Tyson was unmotivated for the Douglas fight but after his embarassment and his pride being dented he came back much meaner and with more menace; even if he didn;t perform the same. He really was a man on a mission. People underplay the psychological aspect of boxing too much. It's fundamental to our entire psyche yet is overlooked.

Mikes psyche is the reason he would lose. Foreman chased Tyson for years in the late eighties early nineties. This was one of the biggest money fights around. Tyson didn't want it cause he knew he would lose. Could he have won yes, but he was scared and didn't want the fight. If your mentor tells you for years your style can't beat his and you worship your mentor. That will stick with you.
