Larry Merchant Unapperciation

Is it just me, or does it seem like Larry Mercahant is getting more and more senile as the years go on. What he says doesnt even make sense half of the time, and it always takes forever for him to get it out with his dramatic pauses. His analogies are horrible, and usually have nothing to do with what is going on. Plus in his interviews, he gets so redunndent with his questions.

I know the alternative of Max Kellerman is just as bad, but something's gotta be done about Larry.

Anyone else share this opinion?

yeah actually his interview tonight he asked some really good questions... he does have flashes where he's good, but overall i just think he's past his prime

i agree with you alot of the time lately he seems out of it but tonight he seemed really pissed off with the fight and took it out on the interview

Larry is very witty. I actually like those "dramatic pauses" and the little dialogue he gives.

It's always funny when Lampley passes it on to Merchant after the fight, and the camera zooms in while he gives his little lecture.

i like him. his analogies were spot on tonight and always are. Comparing careers or situations of the current fighters to ones of the past.

And he usually does this 1 minute bit after the last interview, those are always great.

Like he did something after the Cotto fight about Boxing being mainstream in Puerto Rico, and it was great.

Is it me or does Larry Merchant always say "We got 2 fighters at a crossroads" to describe every fight no matter who is boxing?

You leave Larry alone. He takes naps in the middle of rounds, but who cares(Larry needs his rest). You think HBO is paying Larry? Please. He has to sneak into every event and then work his way to the commentary table. Notice how Lampley has a confused face everytime he introduces Larry to the television audience.
