20 YEARS TODAY: HAGLER vs LEONARD.

I read an article today saying how Leonard, after getting pissed with Micheal J Fox whilst watching Hagler vs Mugabi, called his manager and asked for the fight to happen.

He also had planned to go toe-to-toe with Hagler until almost getting KO'd by a middleweight sparring partner 5 days before the big fight. And then decided to outbox Marvin.

He wasnt pissed off, he was pissed (drunk), sorry, british slang.
It was in a newspaper, i couldnt find it on the net. And i aint typing the whole thing.

Leonard had only fought twice in 5 years before that night. Amazing achievment.

I agree. It wasn't until Lance Armstrong burst onto the scene that we were again treated to such a cycling phenomenon.

LMAO that was the funniest thing I have read in awhile. I am one of the few that agrees with Hagler than Leonard didn't do enough to take Marvins title. Those shoe shine punch combos were pathetic. Marvin was on the downswing anyhow and was far from Prime. Leonard could have never best the Hearns version of him.

What do u mean by that?

I dont believe Leonard threw weak punches. They had no effect on Hagler, becuase Hagler was....well....Hagler!

Leonard hit him more, used the ring better, and was hit less.
That sums it up for me.
                    Hit and not be hit.
Leonard didnt run all night. He at times stood there right in front of Hagler and Hagler couldnt land the punches he wanted to.
Leonard OUTPOINTED Hagler. He didnt outfight him. He outboxed him.
It was no robbery. Not by a long shot.
