I scored the fight for Reid. That's the only time I ever thought I saw someone get the best of Calzaghe. So what though, he'd decapitate Reid now.

Not to mention as Shanus stated he was food poisoned and had a broken hand. Excuses excuses.....but either way it's true.

Joe had the ****s before the Reid fight, food poisoning was the excuse because he was so embarrassed.

The morning of the (Calzaghe/Reid) fight, Joe and Richie (Woodhall, who was joint main event and supposed to fight the winner) were sitting in a restaurant eating ice cream (why? No idea), Joe was about to take a big mouthful when Richie shouted "No Joe, stop!" because he'd spotted Glass in Joe's spoonful of ice cream! Joe later started crying apparently (contemplating had he died and his kids without a dad etc) and couldn't warm-up properly for the fight.

Also, Joe hurt his hand in the third and broke it in the fourth. He also suffered an elbow injury. Rather than going to see a specialist to get it sorted, he trained and fought through the pain and the result was two stinkfests against Thornberry and Starie before finally getting it sorted and finally showing his 1996/97 form again against Sheika, Woodhall and Veit. When asked why he didn't see a specialist about the injuries, he'll tell you "I had a family to feed, I was making peanuts. Benn, Eubank and Collins soaked up £10million in five fights against eachother and there was nothing left for me!"
