    So What Happens?

If Calzaghe go's onto fight Kessler in near future and ends up dominating him ala Lacy. Will all you haters finally acknowledge him or will people start saying that Kessler was overrated and never fought anyone. I can see a similiar scenario building upto this potential fight as what happened with Lacy, an unbeaten younger fighter untested yet people were backing him heavily to beat Calzaghe. Kessler from what I have seen is pretty one-dimensional and I think Calzaghe boxes the pants off him. If or when Calzaghe beats Kessler I'll just say that it was expected. I would much rather see him fight someone like Hopkins,Wright or Taylor cause at least if he wins a matchup with any of these guys convincinly then no-one can make excuses trying to tarnish Calzaghes legacy, whereas with Kessler I can feel a backlash of guys giving the usual rubbish over him being overrated If Calzaghe takes him to school.

I think Kessler is better than Lacy because he has more skill, and a fighter with good skill always has a better chance than a fighter with mad power if things don't go his way. However it is exactly the same situation in terms of hype. If Kessler gets beaten by Calzaghe then he will be downgraded from "best super-middle EVAR" to "padded record Euro champ who never fought anyone lol calslappy is teh BUM!11" and we can wait for Lucien Bute to become the best super middle who would school joe.

    Not really fair is it?

The one thing that will make it a winner is the unification. I reckon Joe should fight The Contender runner up then fight Taylor and maybe Kessler before heading up to fight Hopkins then retiring with a bundle of cash.

Don't worry. They are both versatile fighters, and none of them would stand and receive a beating for 12 rounds. They also both have the ability to come up with game plan A,B,C,D... and I'm quite sure they would both gain respect, win or loose.

That's all he does, one - two and possibly - three punch combinations.

He's kinda like a bigger, stronger Jermain Taylor.. but less sloppy.

Yeah, i think a class fighter will be able to telegraph kesslers punch's well enough if they dont get knocked out first that is :/

Interesting thread. I would like to see people come in and confirm that they believe Kessler to be the real thing and admit that Calzaghe deserves a lot of respect if they beat him, then they cant squirm out of it if it happens.
