Tyson because after prison the person wasnt the same and the competition with guys of the same age are there.

Oscar got robbed with Tito and gifted against many but mostly his female fans are making something and his music pop overrated him too.

I havent seen anyone throw nearly as many punches as ike. his punch output was amazing for a big man. but the fact is tua has always been one dimensional and that fight could have went either way. I could see ike getting out boxed from the outside by someone like lennox lewis

People rate Ike highly upon what he showed in the ring. I don't think it's fair to say he'd beat fighters A, B and C easy because he beat Tua and Byrd, but I think his skill set would allow for him to be very competitive with anyone...if not Ike coming out victorious.

Think about it...Ike fought two POLAR OPPOSITE styles and beat them both damned impressively considering the circumstances. None of you really scored that Tua fight a draw that's just you all trying to slight Ike. He sat there and slugged it out with the Tuaman...beating him to the punch all night, showing great toughness and determination. Then he goes ahead and catches up to Byrd unlike anyone previous to that had and just completely blows him off the map! Nobody else did that to Byrd....not like that.

Ike showed a good jab, good timing, combination punching off the jab, mental endurance, etc. Most of all he showed an ability to change his internal makeup. He was a ****ing wackjob as it turns out, but in the ring he was Sam Peter with skills. Scary guy to fight if ya ask me.

Now yes, people who say he'd obliterate Lenny Lewis in one round are overrating him...but I don't know if he's the MOST overrated guy of the 90's.

Once again great post Oldgringo! I completely agree. And it took what damn near 10 years later for someone to blow Byrd out again which was the fighter that beat him before. Tua was a different fighter back then too & he actually weighed under 230 lbs & threw combos as well. The Tua that fought Ike back then would be a belt holder in today's division.

why didn't anybody mention roy jones besides beating hopkins, and toney, he wasted a bunch of HBO airtime fighting a bunch of sub-par opponents that nobody really wanted to see him fight... and back then there were several quality opponents he could have faced tarver, calzage just to mention two. In my opinion roy was the most overated fighter of the 90's

I was waiting for the typical Roy Jones 'hater' to come in here and mention him. It's a mandatory thing.

Fact is, Roy was one of the greatest ever, and voted greatest of the 90s period. No way was he overrated. He beat all of his best opposition in convincing fashion until he came down from heavyweight.

I agree with this post for the most part. when I say overrated its only in regards to the people that say he;d be an all time great,,,dominating champion etc. we dont know that. he was physically strong,,,had great stamina,,,,a seemingly good chin and mixed his punches up pretty well,,,,but I think he;d have some problems with a guy like lennox that has a long jab and boxes well from the outside

Tyson is the most overrated. Jones, De La Hoya and Tyson were all considered GOATs. If they weren't GOATs, Jones and Hoya were at least the best fighters in their division. I'm not sure Tyson was in the top 5 in his division.

Whatever, you know what I mean.

The jackoffs that think he would have stopped Lewis are crack smokers. And I knew I'd infuriate the Ike nuthuggers with that.

                      Ok, just for you SLW,
Roy Jones was the most overrated fighter of the 90s.

But the one who I really thought was overrated was Rid**** Bowe.
