Which just brings into the question of, who really is confident one that knows they will win in the end? Floyd, he says ok you think you need all of that to be able to compete with me, fine you can have those. Oscar has done this before where he needs advantages that he thinks will benefit him but for this one, it should tell you how much he thinks he needs this time to even have a chance....I think he'll ask for Floyd to be placed in cement in the middle of the ring. Oscar doesn't seem confident unless he had to go the extra mile with all of these stipulations, Floyd just says I don't care, I'll win no matter what, take what you want. I like the much more confident guy in this case.

This was posted on another forum by someone, comes from Ring Magazine, interview with Genaro Hernandez and his thoughts on the fight. Some good points made from a guy who fought both:

Detloff begins by stating the following,
    Quote:
"Generally, prizefighters are terrible handicappers. Ask one some time to go on record picking a winner and he becomes a politician, tiptoeing around an answer and not committing to anything. The best guys to get are retired, respected, articulated former fighters who have been in there with both guys, know them well, don't owe anybody anything, and don't have an obvious ax to grind."

For those that don't know Chicanito is a former 130lb title holder who was regarded for a short period of time, as the best of several 130lb title holders at 130lbs. He wasn't a HOF fighter but he was an extremely credible champ, who had good technical skills, and always used his head in the ring. He currently is an announcer for Telemundo and also counts punches for Compubox.

Chicanito's thoughts on the speed of PBF and DLH and the relevance of DLH's win over Mayorga,
    Quote:
"Floyd Mayweather is a lot faster than De La Hoya is an Oscar is going to find it difficult to hit him with a solid shot. Oscar has trouble with guys who are as fast as he is or faster. A lot of people think Oscar looked good against Mayorga, but he was in there with a streetfighter who throws wide, looping punches. Of course Oscar was going to look good against him. If he thinks he's going to look as good against Mayweather, he should think again."

Chicanito's thoughts on the size difference between PBF and DLH,
    Quote:
"I don't believe that Oscar being supposedly bigger than Floyd, because he's been fighting at that weight longer, will make any difference. Floyd spars with light heavyweights in the gym and they can't hit him. You can't hurt what you can't hit, and if Oscar can't hit Floyd, he can't hurt him."

According to Detloff, Chicanito also stated the following,
    Quote:
"When a fighter moves up in weight, his body adjusts to taking punishment from bigger, stronger fighters, so if he (PBF) trains right, against the right guys, size shouldn't matter."

Chicanito's thoughts on the difference in power of PBF and DLH,
    Quote:
"My brother (trainer Rudy Hernandez) told me I got stung with a right by Mayweather, but I KNOW I got stunned with an uppercut by Oscar. But I don't see either of them as big punchers. They're both very quick and throw good combinations, and that's where the damage comes from."

Chicanito's thoughts on what PBF's strategy should be,
    Quote:
"I know, no fighter likes getting hit in the body, but Oscar is weak down there. I've known him for so many years, and I remember years ago when he was an amateur, he was sparring once with JCC. Chavez hit him hard to the body and really hurt Oscar. They had to stop the sparring and the Olympic committee threatened to sue."

More Chicanito thoughts on DLH's ability to take shots to the body and his stoppage loss to Hopkins,
    Quote:
"Against Bernard Hopkins, I don't think Oscar got hit hard. I think he felt like he was getting tired or hurt and wanted it to be done. When a fighter gets hurt to the body, he doesn't cry on the canvas and all that like Oscar did. If Folyd is beating Oscar easily and makes him look bad, he should hit him in the body if he can. That will be Oscar's excuse to go down and say, 'I got hit in the body, I couldn't get up, I couldn't beat the count.'"

Chicanito's thoughts on the strategy best suited for DLH to beat PBF,
    Quote:
"Oscar has to try to time Floyd when Floyd jumps in with that right hand. Oscar has to throw his left hook as soon as he sees Floyd throw the right hand. But it'll be hard because Floyd is so quick."

Chicanito responding to Detloff's questioning of the boxing approach as oppossed to just pressuring PBF and using his advantage in size,
    Quote:
"Floyd Mayweather is a hell of a counterpuncher. If you watch him work on the pads with his trainer, you see that he's working on counterpunching. And all of his sparring partners rush him. Everybody who fights him says, 'He's a boxer; I have to go to him, get close, throw a lot of punches. I have to go after him.' They see he's got quick hands and can box and they figure they have to pressure him. So they all go right to him him and he looks great. If I were going to fight him again, I'd be the counterpuncher. I'd make him come to me. That's what Oscar should do. The people would hate it because it would be a boring fight, but that's the way to beat him. If Oscar made Floyd come to him, and Floyd tried to make Oscar lead sooner or later one of them would make a mistake."

    Chicanito's prediction,
    Quote:
    "Mayweather by decision."
