    Hopkins has a new Career.

Bernard Hopkins already has a career lined up after he retires for good. Did anyone hear him tonight on Friday Night Fights? He guest commentated the entire night and showed far more insight and verbal ability than most boxers-turned- commentators. He occasionally got tongue tied but Hopkins called the action well- speaking from first hand experience- and pointed out what was working and what wasn't. Seeing as he has yet to really practice at this line of work he has great talent for it. I mean if you are a boxer, and student of the game like Bernard- knowing your history, and have verbal ability you can make a great commentator. Did anyone else here him? I thought he was quite good. I loved Roy Jones Jr. when he worked with HBO but, seeing as this is new to Hopkins and he already did so well, I'd rank the top three boxers who have commentated as:

    1.) George Foreman
    2.) Bernard Hopkins
    3.) Roy Jones Jr.

They all did very well. I'm not speaking of all time boxers who commentated- just those in recent memory.

Anyone want to see Bernard sign with HBO to commentate after he quits?

No, but it's good to get some feedback on how he did.

      Good show.

When I've heard Hopkins as a commentator he's always been very entertaining. He can certainly talk (although he has the perfect face for radio!). Lennox Lewis isn't very good. He always seems like he doing something else when someone asks him a question

Lampley: Would you say it's important to come into every fight well conditioned, Lennox?
Lennox: Er... what? Er... yeah, it's always important, because that time that you... what was the question?

I like Nicky Piper. I think he's probably the best one to make the transition.

          Good show.
if u didnt hear him, why would u reply???

I thought he did a great great great job.

I remember hearing on the post fight interviews a long time ago and i remember being shocked at how poorly he spoke english and how he stuttered a lot for a trash talker.

But he's gotten really good at talking since he's had to do a lot of it with GBP. Even his post fight interview after the Tarver fight was great

Honestly he's kinda ugly, but he does have a lot of knowledge. I don't think they would ever put him on HBO WCB with Merchant and Lampley. Maybe he could try Boxing After Dark, or some other spot.
