Erik Morales in Manila, speaks on Solis

    Erik Morales in Manila!

Take it from someone who knows Jorge Solis. "Solis is good and strong," said Mexican Erik Morales, who used to spar with the 27-year-old Guadalajara native when interviewed by reporters from five major Filipino dailies such as The Manila Bulletin, People's Journal, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Abante and the Philippines Star at the 25th floor of The Diamond Hotel in Manila on Friday afternoon. Morales is currently in Manila to help promote San Miguel Beer and he is expected to remain in the Philippines until mid-next week. While Morales considers Solis as a threat to Manny Pacquiao on April 14, the 30-year-old Mexican icon believes the Filipino southpaw will be too much for his compatriot. "He gives up easily," said Morales, known as a never-say-die warrior in the ring. "The problem is his fighting spirit." But despite his seemingly lowly description of his compatriot, Morales refuses to issue a prediction on what round Pacquiao will prevail. "Manny must not take Solis lightly," said Morales of Solis, unbeaten in 32 fights. "Manny should be in good shape, too."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, Morales bared that he is looking forward to his June 16 battle with reigning World Boxing Council lightweight champion David Diaz which will be held in Illinois, California or Texas. “The people think that I have nothing left,” said Morales, who arrived in Manila late Tuesday night joined by wife Andrea and a few other friends. “But I feel good and strong.” “I can still do it,” he said with conviction, whose interview was facilitated by the Spanish-speaking ABS-CBN sportscaster Dyan Castillejo. Morales, a professional since 1993, sports a 48-5 ledger with 34 knockouts and he plans to report for training in the Otomi mountains on April 5. It's good that Pacquiao and Morales have respect for each other. Those guys gave us 2 great, great fights...too bad they couldn't have met earlier in their careers.

And yeah, Pacquiao is going to slap Solis.

Definitely, the Diaz fight is the first one that I will be rooting for Morales in.

Well if what Morales says about Solis quitting is true, then Manny has a good chance. He really breaks you down mentally and if you don't quit, you look like **** in the end. Look at Larios. That guy seriously had balls to go the 12 rounds taking a beating. His face looked demolished at the end. Solis I hear is training in those mountains in Mexico and should be in fantastic shape. I guess as long as he doesn't quit, he should give Manny a real good fight. He has power, boxing skills, and he'll have the stamina to go the 12 rounds. Let's see how he handles the punches and if he can give equal blows in return to Manny and see how Manny deals with them.

Erik Morales is a real classy guy. Though he's like the Hulk. You wouldn't like him when he's angry

I dont know if Pacquiao is going to KO Solis that quick, I think he will knock him out in the middle rounds. It seem Pacquiao has been involved in a lot more things than boxing in the past few months. So he might not be focused early on. Then he will get hit and turn it up and win the fight. I agress Marquez-Pacquiao 2 is something i want to see.

I've seen a couple of solis' fights and he really doesn't offer much, other than a pretty looking record. It would really be surprising if he could beat Pacquiao and I just hope he puts up a valiant effort, that's not looking likely according to Morales but who knows. This guy has 0 advantages over Manny, I don't know why he's there.
