Take it from someone who knows Jorge Solis. "Solis is good and strong," said Mexican Erik Morales, who used to spar with the 27-year-old Guadalajara native when interviewed by reporters from five major Filipino dailies such as The Manila Bulletin, People's Journal, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Abante and the Philippines Star at the 25th floor of The Diamond Hotel in Manila on Friday afternoon. Morales is currently in Manila to help promote San Miguel Beer and he is expected to remain in the Philippines until mid-next week. While Morales considers Solis as a threat to Manny Pacquiao on April 14, the 30-year-old Mexican icon believes the Filipino southpaw will be too much for his compatriot. "He gives up easily," said Morales, known as a never-say-die warrior in the ring. "The problem is his fighting spirit." But despite his seemingly lowly description of his compatriot, Morales refuses to issue a prediction on what round Pacquiao will prevail. "Manny must not take Solis lightly," said Morales of Solis, unbeaten in 32 fights. "Manny should be in good shape, too."

Meanwhile, Morales bared that he is looking forward to his June 16 battle with reigning World Boxing Council lightweight champion David Diaz which will be held in Illinois, California or Texas. “The people think that I have nothing left,” said Morales, who arrived in Manila late Tuesday night joined by wife Andrea and a few other friends. “But I feel good and strong.” “I can still do it,” he said with conviction, whose interview was facilitated by the Spanish-speaking ABS-CBN sportscaster Dyan Castillejo. Morales, a professional since 1993, sports a 48-5 ledger with 34 knockouts and he plans to report for training in the Otomi mountains on April 5.
