Severly diminished skills? Did you see his last fight; he took the guy out in less than 2 minutes!

In all fairness to Joe, let's give him a chance before writing him off all together.

      Same card as Mesi

According to boxrec.com, JD Chapman (25-0) is going to be fighting on the same card as Joe Mesi on April 14. Too bad I can't be there!

Too bad they're not fighting one another; do know if this will be televised?

          your insane.
          his skills are gone.
his refelexes are lax, he has no footwork, barley and defense and even his power isnt all there.
He will get hurt badly when he steps up.

You didn't answer my question: Did you see his last fight? He fought and Ko'd a typical tomato can fighter, however, he looked pretty damn sharp doing so. He's doing the same thing as Evander is in his comeback. Easy, let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt, he is still undefeated.

His skills haven't diminished any. In order for that to happen, he would have had to have had skills to begin with. Look at his resume. He has fought three okay fighters. One was David Izon, pretty much the definition of a C level fighter. Izon's claim to fame was being competitive with David Tua, that or his KO win over Lou Savarese. Joe won that fairly convincingly and it was easily his best performance. But... the other two? Monte Barret? The dude LOST to Lance Whitaker. He lost to him! And Joe beats him by split decision. Hardly impressive. Every good heavyweight that has faced Barret has disposed of him with ease. Mesi also fought Jirov, who is by no means a heavyweight, and was put on his ass three times, narrowly squeaking out a decision he might not have even deserved.

At best Mesi was a C+ fighter before the bleeding on the brain. Why would anyone think he could succeed now?

only wlad and valuev have stopped barret. rahman won a close decison over him and barret fought whitaker when whit was a descent fighter and highly ranked in his prime and many people thought barret won that fight. mesi's most impressive win wasnt the izon fight,,,,it was his 1 round blow out of tos. either way,,,I agree with you that mesi isnt going to win a title. I dont think he would have before the jirov fight either. his defense and chin lacks too much..but I'd say he's a descent b level fighter

There's been no announcement about it being televised, I hope it is though.

Mesi won an impressive first round KO over DaVarrell Williamson. It took Wlad to the fifth round (and TOS was even ahead on one scorecard when the fight was stopped!). TOS easily defeated Corey Sanders, who beat Oleg Maskaev.

Barrett is a solid, above average journeyman - his going the distance with Mesi does not reflect badly on Joe. Barrett took big Valuev to the 11th round, and was willing to continue but his corner stopped the fight.

I agree. its no crime being taken the distance by monte barret and having a tough fight with him. barret did dominate dom guinn who's far from a world beater but a descent fighter and barret gave rahman a very tough fight as well. he was giving valuev trouble as well until the size and strength of the giant overwhelmed him
