I think of the four fights Kessler would be the easiest, and then Taylor. Next to that he'd have a shot at outworking Wright if he went into a shell.....but I don't see any way that Calzaghe could beat Nard. He's just too crafty, and would make Calzaghe miss......the punches that landed on his shoulders or face when tucked behind his shoulder and him moving on his toes while absorbing the punch would keep them from having much effect. Not to mention he'd just feint and fire a right straight down the pipe right afterwards. He'd landslide the blow on the cards.

I think Calzaghe's work rate alone will win him rounds against Hopkins, but he won't land many flush shots, let alone combinations.

His work rate could easily win him rounds yep. And especially if Nard isn't doing **** but actually having one of his senile lapses where he thinks he's throwing punches etc. For the sake of boxing tactics are concerned however, it's a horrid matchup for the blow in my opinion. Because of the fact that Hopkins will just wait and wait untill he makes a mistake opening up, and pop him. I think that also could have the makings for a controversial scoring affair. See I'm just assuming Calzaghe would be the aggressor throwing punches in bunches....which I think he would be. However it's also good to note:

Calzaghe has never faced a guy with Hopkins' heart. That's understood. Proof lies in the fact that Echols body slammed him and dislocated his shoulder....instead of taking the DQ win when the ref offered it, he decided to fight on in the process making Echols pay. Of thus eras ensuing that alone made him one of my all time favorite fighters right under Jones. That's here nor there, but another thing is that Calzaghe hasn't fought someone that can be just outright dirty. Let's not forget he has some sociopathic tendencies, an iron chin (Only down once against Mercado.....Flash KD).

RWK I don't lack love for my fellow Philadelphian. Calzaghe-Hopkins would just be a tough fight to judge.

If Taylor could hit Hopkins I don't see how Calzaghe would miss all night.

Hopkins has yet to face a lightining opponent in the downside of his career. He'll be hard pressed to sneak in those lead rights, and then clinch against Joe. Calzaghe's too quick.

Stylistically, the Blow and Taylor couldn't be any more different.

Taylor fights out of the Steward School where he keeps his right hand high and jabs away with his reach setting up his power shots with the right hand.

Cal tests and paws with the southpaw jab and throws punches from angles. From a conventional stance.....it's much harder to see the punches coming behind the jab as opposed to from the sides and above etc.

Point being it would be easier for Hopkins to pick Cal's shots off.

sorry if this has been discussed before.
