    Arum on "Darchinyan vs. Arce"

This is from a recent interview on ********* with TOP RANK promoter Bob Arum... safe to say he doesn't like Gary Shaw much.

Being that Arce wins this fight, how close can we get to an Arce-Darchinyan showdown?
We were approached by Showtime to do an Arce-Darchinyan fight and we are happy to do that fight, no problem. Top Rank has to be the promoter.

    No co-promotion?
Well, he can have his name up and be involved in the officials and in that kind of stuff but he is not going to be involved in the business with me because he drives my people nuts....

    Gary Shaw?
Gary Shaw just drives you nuts. Give me a break, I am not going to tolerate it, I mean, I will pay him. We would work something out and I thought that was OK, at least Showtime told me that was OK but Gary had second thoughts, so....

So that is definitely not in the works?
Hey, the door is always open, Arce would love to fight Darchinyan, love it. But there are a lot of great guys he can fight, there is Navarro, Martin Castillo, those are the guys he is going to fight, no more Lers.

Do you have any more dates with HBO lined up for Arce?
Yes, HBO has offered July 29th and Showtime has offered us July 7th.

LETS ALL HOPE THEY PUT THEIR DIFFERENCES ASIDE AND MAKE THIS FIGHT HAPPEN THIS YEAR.

Although it would be nice to see the fight now, I think they should wait it out a bit. The fight will only get bigger as long as both keep winning.

The fight is already a multi million dollar PPV flyweight fight, it doesnt get any bigger then that.

This is one of those fights that must happen and from the sounds of Arum it appears not in 2007 which is too bad.

Ricardo Lopez v. Rosendo Alvarez and Carbahajl v. Gonzalez dont happen everyday, this is a special fight that only gets endangered every time they fight someone other then each other.

Yeah this would be a great fight and one many would want to see. Both guys are high action and throw power punches. Arce has been on HBO a few times, but against mediocre opponents. Darchinyan has been on Showtime a few times a not really been challenged. This fight would test both guys and excite fight fans.
