Barerra has some of thee fastest hands in the sport, the transition was more mental for Barerra as it was for Gatti who had exceptional boxing skills he just was easy (both men were) to lure into a face first phone booth brawl.

Barerra and Gatti really focused on the mental side knowing they could box and just being diciplined enough to apply it consistently over an enitre fight.

Librado is a different case, if you have watched his last 3 or 4 fights you know the guy is not as physically gifted as the above mentioned fighters, he isnt even on the same planet in regards to MAB who is truly special.

Librado is who he is and that is going to be good enough to beat a lot of fighters, just not the Kesslers and the Calzaghes of the world.

What you are bringing up is a completely different subject. Barrera and Gatti were boxers with great amateur backgrounds who started out as boxer-punchers, then as professionals altered their styles to become sluggers. They had switched trainers who made them revert to their more technical foundations. The trainers did nothing to change who they were as fighters.

Andrade isn't like those other guys, that's a completely different scenario.

If you say so.........then after I watched the Junior Jones vs. Barrera I would have said he's a shot fighter he will never be a great boxer. A good trainer can change a fighter not completely, but enough to make him use the skill he has to his advantage and better defense

Let me tell you this, Ricardo Mayorga was supposed to train with Emmanuel Steward before the Corey Spinks fight. After 3 days, Steward quit him because he told King that he'd have to totally rebuild him as a fighter and that that simply wasn't feasible.

After so many years of boxing, these guys do things just automatically, it's all intrinsically programmed from years of repetition. You can't just assign a new trainer and bring out a Muhammad Ali.

A new trainer works primarily as a motivator, bringing out positive aspects of their already learned material. But if you can't box after 20 pro fights, you'll never learn.
