Back in those days a Knock down concluded the round.. so each time the guy got Knocked down he had a minute to recover.. It kinda makes sense if you look at it that way...

Was it not 30 seconds? I thought a downed fighter under London Prize Ring rules had thirty seconds to come "up to scratch" and failure to do so was the only way in which a bout ended.
