    Ricardo Torres-Carlos Maussa

    From *********

    Torres will face Maussa!

Colombian Ricardo "Mochuelo" Torres will defend his WBO jr. welterweight against fellow Colombian challenger Carlos Maussa on April 28 at the Club Barranquilla in Barranquilla, Colombia. The boxing card is promoted by Cuadrilatero Promotions/Best Boxing of Puerto Rico. Torres(30-1, 27 KOs) will make the first defense of the title that he won in a close majority decision against Mike Arnaoutis on November 18 in Las Vegas, NV. Maussa, 36, is a former WBA champion with a record of 20-4, 18 KOs. In his last fight, he lost a twelve round decision against Mexican Miguel Garnica (23-5-1, 12 KOs) in August 2006, in a bout for the UBC Latin and WBA Fedecentro 140lb titles.

Someone explain this bonehead move for me. Maussa lost his last fight to an unknown, and before that was slaughtered by Ricky Hatton. Now he gets a title shot?

I dont think Maussa deserves a title shot but....

People need to realize that this fight is taking place in Colombia. Maussa became a national hero down there after her beat Harris. Sure he lost since then but hes still huge down there. Ricardo Torres had a lot of buz down there and the Cotto fight even though he lost got him a lot of respect, then when he went on to win a world title recently he became a national hero down there too. They even had parades to honor Maussa, if they did for Torres or not im dont know. But the thing is, these guys are both HUGE in Colombia. So these two fighting for a world title will be ***in huge in Colombia, and the fight is taking place in Colombia. Down here we think its ******, but in there home country this will be a geat event.

Plus Torres is just trying to take this fight before he fights the winner of Holt-Arnaoutis in America. So he'll give his hometown something to be excited about first and for his first title defense. Not as bad a matchup as some think. This fight should be exciting as hell too. Then I hope to see Torres-Holt if they can both win there matches.

its not much of a shot at the title, considering he doesnt have much of a chance.

I think he gets the shot because torres needs the name on his record

Maussa is awful. Cotto destroyed him. I understand why this match is taking place though.

style wise Maussa has an advantge because Torres sunday punch is the straight right which is hard to hit with him.

but if Torres comes with short compact left hooks it okay win with KO
